Surely this lad needs a chance on Tuesday. 5 goals today. Why sign loan strikers with no league experience when we've got one of our own banging them in. Come on Slade give the boy a chance.

I think he will get his chance at the end of the season after we have relegation confirmed.

Only just 18 last month and still raw.

A place on the bench though can't do any harm.

Exactly this, break the lad in gently and I'm sure he'll deliver.

If he flourishes, he may tear L2 a new bum-bum hole next season. Then, inevitably, he'll be sold...hey ho.

Nah- just like Bassala Sambou he'll go bench warm at a club in a higher division.

No chance of seeing him in a Sky Blue shirt.

When does Ponticelli's contract expire? Thought he signed a new deal last year, didn't he?

Plenty of 16 17 18 year olds in our division and higher over the years. Rooney was 16 in the PL so why not an 18 in the 3rd tier? Armstrong 18 with us so why school kids for others to reap rewards when we could blood one we actually have on the books? Let's be honest he can't be much worse. It might not work, it might ruin him too but what if it doesn't and he is actually the real deal? Give the boy a go.

I think he signed a 2 year deal in April. I'd have him on the bench Tuesday but I'd not be in hurry to have him in the 1st team.
Don't be in a rush to spoil him just yet and saddle the burden and negative cloud around the 1st team now.
No real burden on Tuesday in the grand scheme of things.

I'd play all the academy players on Tuesday but unfortunately we have to start 5 of the 11 dogshit players from today

Agreed ...I would think that the team would be on a slight high given the importance of the result and a place at Wembley so get him on the bench and give hime 20 25 minutes

It's desperate when we are so desperate that we want to throw an unproven 17 year old in. I am not sure what evidence there is for this? I mean it is not like he is banging in hatrick's every week is it? That has been the yardstick in the past with youth strikers, scoring for fun at youth level.

He's 18 and has scored 18 goals in 20 games for the U18s this season

Mark Hateley was scoring in 2's 3's and 5's as a youth.

So is this lad.

Whether he's good enough or not I don't know. But let's not pretend it'd be some crazy idea, we have just signed an 18 year old who was playing U18s last year.

I don't get your point? Mark Hateley made 32 appearances for England. He also played for AC Milan, Monaco and Rangers. All 3 of them are bigger and more successful clubs than CCFC.

The way I look at it is the way we are playing we may get one really good opportunity in a game it maybe 0-0 85th minute. (Like that horrendous miss from 10 yards by Clarke yesterday) I my opinion at this very minute if I could pick for it to drop to currently anyone at the club it would be Jordan Ponticelli.

Don't know if he's good enough or not or what type of player he is but at 18 he has to be on the first rung of the professional ladder, had we brought in an experienced hairy arsed centre forward to nurse him and others along might have helped. Now Ponticelli has to come in alongside two similar rookies or Tudguy put him on the bench yes but don't start him just yet.

Yes he broke through at a higher level. But the point is you have to be really outstanding at youth level, it is a big step. Even more so when you are stepping into a failing side. Our fans aren't the kindest to young players trying to make the transistion. By all means play him, but don't criticise him if he is not instantly banging in goals.

I think if we lose on Tuesday night, it would be a burden on our young players, because the atmosphere will be nothing less than toxic. It's one thing bringing young players into a winning team in a supportive environment, another to blood them in the current situation.
