I was asked recently what was the first City game I watched, and who were playing ? My late father took me to Highfield Road when I was a nipper, but can't recall much about the games to be honest. But the one that stands out for me was when we lost in the FA Cup to non league Kings Lynn. Jimmy Hill was in the stands that day and took over not long after this cup upset. It never bothered me losing as I became a huge Sky Blues fan, no doubt because of Jimmy's revolution. So what was your first game ?

First one I can ever remember was against Notts Forest, but that was a reserve game. My dad only took me to reserve games at first. Probably because it was free.

I just remember me running up and down the terraces and the game being really, really boring. I'm pretty sure it was a really dreary 0-0.

I was hooked from that point.

I must be one of the few City glory hunters as it was the Division Two promotion season. I was 9 when after much pleading I managed to get my dad, a lapsed City fan, to finally take me to a game in February 1967. It was a 2-1 win against Carlisle with Machin and I think Gould scoring as we came from behind. The Carlisle goalkeeper Alan Ross was sent off for knocking Gould out with a punch after the latter had charged him as he held the ball. (Something Gould did quite often as you were allowed to do that back then). Not much glory since then but I have never regretted being a City fan. Once you have a club you are committed for life or should be.

I remember Gunns replacement was a very small outfield player and the goalie shirt came down to his knees. Killer missed his penalty against the dwarf.

Yep that's the one. Remember speedie jumping up on the fencing to celebrate his goal. After that I was hooked.

The score was one one anyway. John Filan was in goal for the first three months of me supporting City as Oggy has broken his leg.

First games are important. They can make you a fan for life, or be a turn off. I was lucky as I started going when Jimmy Hill took over, all I recall was win after win and Highfield Road packed !

Might have been the home game v QPR after that TBF.

Hadn’t liked football at all until then, got the bug and my Dad was well happy. Remember going in to see the players in the dressing room, through someone my Dad knew (MP, Lord Mayor or similar). Got my programme signed (which I since lost - gutted), saw Oggy in the bath (which is still etched on my mind - gutted), went and watched the game. Can’t remember fuck all about it but fell in love with the whole atmosphere (in a half full ground seemingly) and was a regular from then on.

Honestly don't know but it must have been 1959 or 1960 time.

13th April 1971 - Man utd at home won 2-1 can't remember who scored for City but remember Best scored for them.
First away game was I think 2-3 years lost 1-0 at wba.
Apart from the obvious cup run - best game was the 5-4 v Norwich. Wish that was in filk somewhere, easily the greatest game I ave ever seen.

I was only young, maybe 4 or 5. Can't remember who it was, but I spent the whole game building sand castles at the side of the pitch.

First game I properly remember was man city at home, we won 2-1, Dublin double

First game was Everton at Highfield Road in 1995, aged 9.

A drab affair but still vividly remember it. I'd been a fan for a while but our family budget didn't stretch to match tickets - until one weekend when I broke my arm in the garden playing football with my Grandad. I was given a lift home, expecting to be given a good talking to, and there were a pair of tickets on the table waiting for me when I got home!

It was a Sunday game and was 0-0, as many games back then against Everton seemed to be...but oh boy the atmosphere was electric! Was hooked from then onwards.

From memory Gordon Strachan, Ndlovu and Dublin were playing....and I'm sure Filan was in goal instead of Oggy that day too.

Is that the one Speedie curled it into the top corner, then climbed up the fence and cut his hand open....or am I confusing the Speedie goal for another one?

April 8th 1947, 2 days before my 4th birthday. Beat Swansea 3- 2 with a George Lowrie hat-trick. We had beaten them by the same score on the previous day as well.

Now into my 70th year of following the City, but alas from afar these days. Still read these pages on match days to follow progress. Forever grateful that my old dad introduced me all those years ago.. No matter what league we are in I'm City through and through

3-0 win over Charlton when I was 7. I always remembered it as 2-0 but we got in late so there might have been an early goal I missed. I do remember walking in as everyone was shouting 'cheat' as we'd been denied a penalty for handball, and being amazed how loud it was.

I was at that one too. Stood on Sky Blue Terrace not far from the lino as ref goes to consult. Everybody in the ground that day knew it was a perfectly good goal - All except the two blokes who mattered!

I was 6 years old in 1984. No real interest in football. Got taken to Southampton

We lost 8-2.

I didn't go again for 4 years after that. Still never any thoughts that I would support anyone other than ccfc
