Coventry City have confirmed they have agreed terms, subject to contract, on a site for a new stadium 'within six miles of the city centre'.As revealed by the Telegraph on Thursday , the Sky Blues have agreed to buy the Brandon speedway site.
The club have also confirmed they have entered exclusive talks on a second site and are aiming to finalise a deal within eight weeks.
Coventry City FC chief executive Tim Fisher said: “We completely understand the pain the groundshare is going to cause our supporters but we have a clear path to return to the Coventry area.
“We are under no illusions at just how tough it is going to be for the next three years but there is absolutely no question that Coventry City Football Club’s long term future is in this area.
“Once we have agreement on a site, we will begin a consultation process with our supporters because we want this to be their home – a home that everyone can be proud of.
“And, of course, a home where the club has access to all matchday and non-matchday revenues which are crucial when it comes to financial fair play.”
International property consultants CBRE are advising on the land acquisition.
CBRE will work alongside a team of advisers including planning consultants Turley Associates, which advised on the delivery of the revamped Edgbaston Cricket Club, Alexander Stadium and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC’s new Compton Park Football Academy.
AFLS+P will be the architects on the project. The firm has worked on a number of stadiums including Rotherham United Football Club, Molineux Stadium’s new North Stand, Newport Rugby Club, Alexander Stadium, Brentford Football Community Stadium complex, Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Leicester Tigers’ new North Stand, and Munster Rugby Club stadium.
National transport planning consultancy Vectos has been selected as the highways consultant.
The firm has recently assisted Tottenham Hotspur Football Club to develop a new training centre and is currently advising on site development around Bolton Wanderers Football Club’s Reebok Stadium. It is also assisting Brighton & Hove Albion FC to increase capacity at their stadium.

It was all bullshit then and it's all bullshit today, the idea at the time was to put pressure on ACL. It didn't work, ACL called their bluff.

Don't worry. RFC will be along soon with a viable explanation for what and why none of that actually happened.

Does this mean we should now start trawling through historic threads (ah, the good old days) where this site was discussed and dismissed, if I remember correctly.
Is this really a purchase or a conditional purchase subject to obtaining permissions which can be strung out to keep the FL onside?

Very misleading thread title Beduff you big joker you..even Cov City Mad issued a headline saying we'd purchased the site

Yet more opportunity to highlight Fisher's constant bullshit and inaccurate timeframes though!

Can't stand that picture of him at the Ricoh..although he somehow looks more of a twat these days with that hilarious beard!

Ha ha, this thread included, the Internet really is pillock central.

Simple rule, don't believe anything unless it comes from the horses mouth and even if it does come from there, always check that the horse isn't a trojan one.

It beggars belief.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the box (no really) but as soon as I read "as revealed by the telegraph on Thursday" I twigged. "1 year today" was also a fairly strong clue ;)

Just popped out for 5mins in the car and it was getting a mention/correction on CWR.

From what I could gather TF was on earlier from Paris. Did anyone hear what he had to say?

Was he continuing his search for land for his fantasy arena slightly further away.

Didn't you hear his statement today? He actually gave the new addresss for the land.

1. Cloudcuckooland
Cloud 9 Industrial Estate
Atlantis
Bermuda Triangle
