Panzo was not technically inept. He wasn't perfect, but he had a good base to work from.
I think the poster who suggested Panzo induced PTSD from his play-off howler is spot on. Remove that, and we would look at him a bit more favourably.

Why do all the medical etc. today but not sign until tomorrow?

So we know he's not signing. We know that he is valued upward of ~£8m. And we know that if he suffers an injury, that is likely to mean clubs won't be in the market for him until around January when he can sign a pre-contract.
I would be of the opinion that we protect our asset for the 1-2...
It is if you're a professional footballer who wants to achieve the best career possible.
Let's not forget that he already plays abroad and has spent time on loan to another country recently, so I'm not sure it's the prospect of moving that is of concern.
