The Smithfield Hotel was in Hales Street opposite where the Transport Museum is. It burned down in 2001 after an arson attack.

There was also a record shop in the lower precinct on the lower level on the same side as Gibberds clothing store, was it called Fennels? I can't quite remember.

Went to school with his son. Have pre war picture of tram with advert for Fennell's pianos. I think they were also in Owen's selling records. Their staff were robbing them by passing LPs to their mates. Saw it myself. They then closed...

Used to be a regular in the cellar bar of the Tally Ho. Great times really, whenever you went in there would be people you knew in there. Sometimes someone with a guitar would start playing, getting everyone singing (making a noise anyway)

Even if you decided to hit a few different pubs, it would be the start of the crawl
