Ricoh sponsorship (1 Viewer)

10 years since we moved in. I'm sure the sponsorship for name rights is up for renewal. Any ideas on what or who it could be?

Yes another strange reason our owner didn't bid for the Arena, would have got most if not all their money back in one foul swoop !

Apart from we all know that the Ricoh wasn't available to CCFC for the same price Wasps paid. We all know deep down that SISU would have snapped up the Ricoh for that price.

Is a foul swoop where a seagull craps all over your shoulder as steals your chips?

I would say it is stranger that CCC sold the stadium for a lot less than the Ricoh naming deal 10 years ago only a matter of months before it was due for renewal.

Is there any news on this? I thought the sponsorship was for 10 years, haven't read anything recently about a renewal or even anything about the deal?

Wasps apparently in conversations with several potential sponsors but nothing signed or close to it.

The last I heard they signed a rolling extension with Ricoh but didn't disclose the terms - no doubt to cover them whilst they search for a long-term sponsor.

Having a football team at the stadium with all the TV they could be back would able to allow Wasps to secure a better deal, I suspect soon as a rent deal is signed them a stadium sponsorship deal will follow

Surely the sponsorship isn't going to be paid in one lump sum. I just had a look at another example in rugby - the allianz stadium, they paid £8m for 6 years of stadium and shirt sponsorship. If Wasps manage to negotiate a similar deal that works out at around £1.3m a year, only a £300k increase on what they are receiving now (provided the rolling contract with ricoh is on the same terms). Not a significant increase, nowhere near enough to plug the gap in the bonds issue.

You can bet your life that the delay is due to CCFC, it would be near impossible for a sponsor to put a value on the arena without knowing who the tenants are going to be.

Which is why there should always have been an element of stadium sponsorshio money going to the club ever since the Ricoh opened.

Which would be realised by Wasps and if CCFC are up to speed should also be part of any long term deal negotiations.
There is no doubt the club would increase incomes for Wasps, the challenge is for the club to get best access to those incomes.
............ or we can piss about in court and say we are building our own stadium.

Just need to ask etc etc.

No, we just need to negotiate properly, not expect it as a right and stop all this bullshit which nobody, particularly Wasps, believes.

Funny that, because most don't believe their bullshit about legal noise either. Most see it for what it is, an attempt to screw more money out the club.

Why do you continue with that twatish response? Aside from the fact no one ever said that ever I thought that you would have learnt your lesson from the kiosk in the stadium. When posters like myself and Italia were suggesting that we should approach wasps about a kiosk as we have no shop of any description at the Ricoh you kept putting it down with that stupid line. Yes or no do we have a kiosk at the Ricoh? Yes or no does that mean someone had to ask?

The share of the naming rights isn't a bad idea. I've been saying it for a while now and the fact is that there is at least one example to follow. West Ham at the Olympic Stadium.

To be honest if they want more money out the club they just put the rent up and drop the clubs share of any other incomes. What will the club do ?
So you don't think talk of legal discussions, that potentially challenges Wasps ownership of the Ricoh, effects their business plan particularly in areas of sponsorship and investment? You can't see that the knock on from that directly effects what they can offer us long term?

Italia said it didn't he? He has now said they need to try and get some of the naming rights money, do you think Wasps are just going to hand it over or increase it somewhere else to make it up there?

My point was how it is "Just need to ask" as if Wasps are some sort of heroes who are very keen to help CCFC out, so keen they put on a "legal action" front to pressure a better deal out of CCFC.

Is the olympic stadium anything like our situation?

The club will move, not much chance of CCFC fans standing up to Wasps. It doesn't challenge Wasps potential ownership of the Ricoh, it has been said the deal would not be overturned. Just that CCC would have to pay damages. It affects their business plan as we are important with regards to income on match days and stadium sponsorship and getting the Ricoh in the news. Yet for all our importance, we will still be screwed over, in a stadium built for us. They don't want to offer us anything long term. They want us commited long term so they can bleed the club dry, something you don't seem to mind them doing, yet have a problem with SISU doing. You are the definition of hypocrisy.

It is like how people were outraged ACL were being distressed, but don't mind it when people try to do it to CCFC because it gets one over on SISU.

It could be argued that ACL and the rent were distressing CCFC for years. What with the lack of other revenues also. The notion we will receive money from a naming rights deal is ludicrous. We didn't receive any first time round when it was solely to CCFC giving the Ricoh exposure. Wasps will say we have offered a fair rent deal that recognises CCFC's importance. CCFC fans will believe every word, no matter the truth.
