What Sporting Event ? (1 Viewer)

A customer of mine has just been to his first Wasps game and also his first visit to the Ricoh. He liked it that much he's going again.
He loved the stadium and atmosphere there but has no intention of going to a football match. He just likes Rugby and said he'd always wanted to go to a top match and it was the Toulouse Cup match.
It got me thinking what sporting event I'd like to go to other than football ? I'd go for a top boxing event like a World title fight. If you had a ticket for a sporting event what would it be ?

Probably boxing as well I think!
When my dad was alive he always wanted to go go to Twickenham to see an international match between England and any other team. He never went though and it goes to show don't just talk about it go and do it !

Honestly don't know. Football is the only sport that I really like.

I quite like basketball, maybe courtside tickets at the Knicks.

Maybe Brazilian Women's Volleyball.

I love going to the cricket! Great day. out. Would love to do MCG on boxing day! But as I go to Edgbaston regularly it doesn't answer the question of what other sport you would like to go to!
So..... I think, more for my 8 year old lad than for me! I'd love to take him to Wrestlemania. Think it'd be worth it just for his reaction.

I had a couple of friends who always went to England home games and was offered tickets a few times including one against Scotland but always chose to go to watch us instead!
Mine would be Boxing Day test at MCG or Olympic 100metres mens final

Definitely 100m men's final!

Where I get a last minute call up and win.

Boxing in Vegas or Ashes match at the MCG would be high on my agenda, but would have to be the Superbowl and preferably with the Dolphins participating but only marginally more of a chance than us winning the champions league.

A Rugby tour of New Zealand.
Always fancied a weekend over the Channel for the Arc.
Anything that would give a good weekend in Dublin.
Went to Dublin with a crowd for a 5 nations fixture back in 1993. England lost but what a fantastic 'weekend' that was (Thurs - late Sunday afternoon) The game itself felt every bit like the huge occasion it was and continues to be.
Probably in my top 5 of all time sporting events I've experienced and I've seen England play football 70 - 80 times both home and abroad.

I've noticed when I've talked about great sporting occasions to people, rugby is often mentioned. The atmosphere, the banter, and of course the drinking etc.
Especially in Ireland !

Yes rattles, all of that I can concur. Was lucky enough to get over to Paris a couple of times in the '90's. In '94 about six of our group of nine or ten got in with forgeries. Took about four attempts tho!
Two years later we didn't get a sniff of even a forgery. Only one bloke in our similar sized group travelled over with a legit ticket. We went to the 'B' match on the Friday evening but had no luck the following day for the full int.
Reluctantly, we retreated to a bar 150 metres over the road from the parc. We watched the game on a fantastic 48" (it seemed) TV mounted on a 18" tall table.
For once I was the 'right' side of a 7 deep crowd at the bar. Getting served was a doddle but I ended up with calf muscles like Garth, at the final whistle.

Also, I always love watching the velodrome cycling at the Olympics! Would be a good atmosphere at the men's keirin final!

Went to speedway world final 1981 at Wembley where ole Olson cane second and I think Tommy Knudsen came third (both bees riders). In the run up to it friends and I went to the intercontinental final in Vojens, Denmark. We went to ole's house a couple of days before (bit creepy when I think of that today) and his chief mechanic let us into the workshop and see him preparing the bikes.

My dad is 76 and about 8 years ago I decided to take him to as many sporting events that he wanted to go to whole he can

We've been to a gold cup day at Cheltenham
The grand national twice
Twickenham for the all blacks v the barbarians
Murray field to see Scotland v Ireland in the 6 nations
Park head to see Celtic play
An all Ireland Gaelic football final, which is an amazing event to attend
Also an Ulster Gaelic football final
And Hampden to see Celtic in a cup final

He's done well bless him

I know it's not considered a sport but I'd love to watch a wrestle mania just for the actual pomp and ceremony that comes with it

Never been a fan of motor sport, only ever saw a bees fixture once - mid '70's against Hackney hawks. But that is quite an impressive story given the standing of Ole Olsen at that time. And attending the finals.
