Why didnt we sell any of our talented youngsters??? (1 Viewer)

If we are breaking even this season, it would make sense to wait until the summer to be fair. The shape of our squad will be very different depending on which division we are in.

Pulling facts out my ass, it could be that we had a striker in mind that would have required a player sale and when that fell through we thought we'd keep Willis. Similarly clubs in for the likes of Stevenson would probably think they could try again once we are down at a cheaper price (or a rejected price) so aren't willing to let us push the price up.

It isn't speculating though is it? People are trying to find things to be angry about, no idea why though.

"Willis only didn't go because he couldn't agree personal terms" was used yesterday in the middle of a rant for example. Add that to the other guy who was going all out on how the bids were made up.

I expected at least a couple to go, they didn't. Nobody is saying that everybody should start licking ring pieces about it.

If you can point out where I have ever said or implied that fans have nothing to be irate about? If anything it adds to my point as there is enough to be irate about without trying to make shite up, or "speculate" as you want to call it.

It appears to me Nick that you are the only one on this thread trying to find things to be angry about, getting the little wooden spoon out.

No, which is my point also as it confuses me why people need to....
Perplexed.

The OP actually dared to be optimistic and then you weighed in with people making things up to be angry.

What in your mind have we to be angry about?

It wasn't so much about the OP ;) It was more about Covman who consistently makes things up.

There is plenty to be angry about already, which is why I said there's no need to make anything up.

I am angry about people constantly saying that I am angry.

Might and maybe Nick. There for all to see.

Where would this site be if people didn't speculate?

I have no idea, but when a user only comes on to "speculate" in particular threads then I don't see the issue in pointing it out.

People have flounced because they "speculated" and got proven wrong.

There is too much "speculation" isn't there? Too much bullshit floating about.

  • People "speculating" about how all the players will be sold and sisu will be taking the money and going.
  • People then annoyed that players werent sold because it means sisu aren't going
  • People speculating bids were made up so SISU could say they rejected them
  • Headlines saying "skips off"
  • People speculating that players werent sold because nobody wanted them
I see your point about the mights and maybes, but if you browse his post history you will see what I mean...

And we are all part of it.

I want SISU gone. I want lawful protesting. But I won't rip the head off anyone who protests in a calm matter.

You say that it doesn't matter what we do other than turn up and pay our money. You say that protesting hasn't got a chance of working.

I can see faults with both.

All managers either delay or rush through incoming cash to meet personal objectives set by their boss.
Its like a salesman who has hit his target for the month by the 25th. He will try and delay payment for any new sales until the 1st, to get a head start on next months target.
Fisher will have targets to meet, and probably have bonuses associated with them. If he's on track to get his bonus for this year, he could be saving the player sales to give him a head start next year.
so probably has to sell an extra player in the summer to make up for League 2 prices. Doesn't really explain the Haynes situation as he can go for free in the summer can't he?

Not as long as we offer him a contract no worse than he is on now. It might have to be slightly better.

I know a player for Blackpool. Clubs were showing interest. But Blackpool offered him an extra £20 a week. So it meant a fee was payable.

Unable or unwilling?

Hard to imagine we will be able to ask as much post-relegation as we can now. Also if I was Willis, I wouldn't want to sign for another club that looks like going down.

We obviously needed the cash last year for Madders, but this year we aren't as desperate it seems.

Maybe they weren't sold because we couldn't replace them, and we actually want to try and stay up? It may seem hopelessly optimistic, but perhaps this is seen as our best chance?

It goes back to the same reason why SISU are still here. They have a valuation for the club and the players within that club and wont budge for anything less.

If they were sold for lower then this thread would have been titled 'fucking SISU selling our young talent for pennies'.

Quick, let's make something up to find a way to be angry about them not being sold.
You just made up that the reason it fell through was because they couldn't agree terms. Can you tell me how this is any different to other people's opinions on here or is it only you who is allowed to have one.

Lou Ferrigno scared the bejesus out of me when he'd turn into the Hulk on that show, I still can't watch it without feeling a little anxious.

Is it made up that CCFC rejected / didn't want to sell him for what Rotherham offered / Rotherham didn't offer enough?

It's different because there's a fair bit of evidence pointing to that isn't it? Rather than just plucked out of thin air.

Because people were using it as reasoning to be annoyed that the club were trying to sell him but it only didn't go through because of Willis not agreeing personal terms?

I don't think I need to speculate that people make things up to get angry. It happens day in, day out.

You state it didn't go through because of not agreeing personal terms. However "Warne revealed that the player and the club had discussed personal terms, with the Millers boss revealing that there had been initial haggling over personal terms, but that wages were not a stumbling block in the end." And "Paul Warne says his club agreed to pay Coventry City’s asking price for captain Jordan Willis - only for the Sky Blues to pull the plug"

Quite clearly, after all your moaning about people speculating, you have done exactly that yourself.
