Any point keeping Slade here? (1 Viewer)

He's had the same amount of games as Mowbray who walked after 10 games without a win, and still managed to pick up less points than what Mowbray did.

He cannot even manage the same points total as Venus in the next 2 games, that alone would class as a failed appointment, it also highlights the complete failures of Tim Fisher who appointed all three as managers this season.

I've never known a manager to come in and make the team actually worse and go backwards, Slade has achieved just that.

What I believe we need now is a manager ready to start planning for League Two. It's now inevitable that we're down, we need someone in to assess who they want here to fight next season to get us back up. It would be pointless to keep Slade here now, a new manager can start the rebuild the minute the season is over, whilst having the last few months of this season to assess the squad and who he believes is dead wood.

The season is over for us, we really need to start the rebuilding ASAP!!

I think you've got the question the wrong way round.

Is there any point in sacking him, and paying him off?

How does his record compare against Thorn?

I can't quite believe that pic of him laughing with the fans at 1-0 up. Dick.

3 months wages, yeah we have every reason now to get rid of him, he is a failed appointment, it hasn't worked, let's go down whilst also having a manager who can have nearly 6 months for the beginning of a new season to rebuild, we have nothing to lose.

Thorn still managed to win 12 games in 60. We've now had two managers this season already with a 0% w/r after 10 games each.

Whoever we get if Sisu are still here the results will no doubt remain the same. Slade was appointed to get something out of a shit team and free players. He had a reputation of getting results and even he cant manage a win.
So until these people fook off things arent going to change, more fans are going to leave, we will be in division 4 and will be playing back in Northampton in 18 months time in front of a hardy 400.

I thought Slade was a great appointment, but it's been a disaster, hasn't it? Absolute no new manager bounce that teams usually get, Is he going to be here next season in League Two? I would say that if not getting a new manager in before the end of the season might be a good idea so they could assess the squad, but how many of these players will even be here next season? If it's going to be a complete rebuilt job in the summer then we may as well save some money by sticking with Slade until the end of the season at least.

He won't cost that much to get rid, the prize money from our win against Wycombe would be more than enough to get rid of him.

hes only contracted to the end of the season, so just put him on gardening leave
bring in somebody who will galvanise the team and the supporters, and bring some hope for the tour of league 2

The worse thing is at the moment
coming out of the premiership - I thought we would walk the championship
coming out of the championship - I thought we would walk league 1
Coming out of league 1 I expect to fall straight through league 2

And we have never done any better than my expectations

He's off in May anyway
I'd get rid now he's had his chance and failed spectacularly

I thought we'd drop straight through league 1 and we didn't. The horrible truth of the matter is we'll have one season where we have one of he best budgets in the league so if we don't get straight back up then so will begin the cost cutting and repositioning of budget that will see us drop through to non-league within three years

He needs to go its been an absolute car crash since he came here.

We need an upcoming manager. I wouldnt mind Ainsworth from Wycombe, I was quiet impressed with Wycombe when we played them. I would also like to see Pressley given an opportunity again. I like him to start with and lost his way a bit. He wants to succeed and plays better football that this shite we watch today. Maybe Pressley in League 2 could work?

I agree entirely, except for one thing...
SISU aren't interested in building anything to go forward.

The fact that Slade will be here for the rest of the season will prove that.

We're down so let's get rid and get a manager who we think could do a job for us in league 2 next year ,
I personally think the Wycombe manger would be a good choice ,

As we are essentially now relegated, I don't see any point in changing things until the end of the season. I'd write this season off along with Slade and the entire squad. We need to get rid of Slade in May along with pretty much all of the players and let the new man have a totally fresh start. I wouldn't bring the new manager in now as if we do relegation will technically take place on his watch and I wouldn't want to see him tarred with that. I would be actively lining people up for next season though behind the scenes. Knowing SISU and Fisher, I suspect they haven't even considered this.

On that basis I'd get things setup for next season. If it is going to be Ricketts as manager then make sure he's more involved now. Start playing those who will still be here next year so that we know exactly what we have when the window opens and what we need to do.

Knowing how we work we'll spend all summer messing about getting a manager in and then he'll come in and want to asses the squad and before we know it the window is shut and we're missing half a team.

I would give him the Gills game at least - he wasn't at fault for the "draw that felt like a defeat" last night IMO, and I was actually encouraged by the way we (almost) pulled off a smash and grab.

He is allegedly just on expenses and win bonus so sacking him off won't cost much - I for one do not see the point of getting rid now. Let's appoint a new face in May, not now.

Let's get someone in now who is going to take us from League two back to League one :angelic: No point keeping slade, might as well spend the time having someone asses the squad now so he can see who he wants to keep and get things moving quickly in the summer and you never know, we might even strike lucky and go on a mad unbeaten run and stay up

You lot really make me laugh ,most wanted TM out and get a manager in with lower league knowledge , now you want Slade out to get a young manager in.
You really need to give people time to put things right. When Slade came in most people if they were honest knew it was going to be hard for him to sort it out, he did need to change the style of play and bring in more experienced players to fight relegation . That does not mean if we go down that he will use these players or type of tactics next season. You cant expect instant form now, the damage was done last summer with MV and TM and TM new he could do nothing with the squad so got out quick before it damaged his reputation to much . Calm down and give the man some support and time at least to the end of his contract.

I assume we're down, so I'd rather just let Slade see it out and then walk in the summer so any new manager doesn't have the stink of a relegation that they were helpless to avoid.

He will stop, the most important thing is to make sure he gets no new deal and the new manager is in place before the players clear off for their well earned holidays:D, so he can make the contract offers and start planning and keep Venus out of it.

Agreed - we should look at who the best young managers in League 2 and the Conference are and look to poach them. We've had too many washed up has beens.
I agree but, if that happens, don't be surprised by the experts on here complaining and writing him off because they haven't heard of him.

TM brought in Armstrong/Murphy and Kent after that it went downhill very very fast

Other than Vincelot his permenant signings have been appalling.
