So, a great escape and we are one month further on an extra point behind.

We would need to do the same as Hartlepools last season.

The Great Escape - Hartlepool Story

Ten points adrift in January. We are 11 adrift at the end of Feb.
Not last season they weren't, are you sure thats not championship manager?

Edit that's the 2014/15 season, and only 2 get relegated in league two. Beginning of Jan they were 10 points behind with 22 to play, they gained 31 points from those 22 games, winning 9 (1.4 points per game average, 65 points over a 46 game season) still a brilliant great escape mind.

We need need that many points and that many wins to get to the magic 50 point mark in 15 games (1.93 points per game, 89 over a 46 game season)

Yep, accept that.

Our record against the bottom teams though has been very poor.

Northampton on a terrible run beat us easily. Chesterfield no wins in something like 13 matches, beat us. Oldham hardly scored all season put 3 past us.

To go on a winning run now we are going to have to be able to score regularly. The average at the moment is less than a goal a game.

That assessment is very damming Otis... your right tho we've not won our "6 pointers" and a few have seen a upturn in results before or since playing us also. Northampton were a team in a false position after going on a bad run with Robert Page, Oldham are now on a 3 game winning run winning 2 6 pointers where we gifted them the win while also beating Gillingham mid January. Chesterfield is the biggest one for me that we should of got something from, another tale of missed opportunities but overall we didn't show enough desire or do enough to win it.
I do feel the tide is turning but we need 2 goal+ cushions now to steady the nerves come the final 10 mins.

I will always believe until it is mathematically done!!
I think 2 games at home have come at right time. Fingers crossed we can win both then see what momentum brings. confidence is a fragile thing. I am hopefull yakubu will have a positive affect

Well he certainly gives us an option we haven't had all season.

We win 2 in a row and the gap narrows substantially (say down to 7 or 8 points) and THEN I would have a little bit of belief.

We need that winning run first though.

Frustrating that we should have had more points on the board from the last two
