They let him bring his right hand man to deal with things like that didn't they?

Well according to SW in the second link he was doing it in April 2015. MV wasn't even at the club then, he didn't arrive until June IIRC. What happened? Did it all collapse with the departure of SW and the arrival of CA? Certainly the teams form did.

When he left he said he sought assurances from the owners which he didn't get and the club could do with more help from the council. The council forced us in to admin shortly after. Hardly scathing of sisu is it.

The assurances, I imagine, were around staying in Coventry.

He came in March didn't he?

Thought what he said was reasonable. You're hardly gonna bad mouth your new employer.
Yeah, but there's a difference between bad mouthing and 'they are good people.'

No other manager has said that.

It would have been just as easy for him to say that he was happy being here, knows the set-up and believes he can have a good working relationship with the board and owners.

'They are good people' flies in the face of what pretty much every single City fan feels about Fisher and Seppala.

tbf in one-to-ones, people seem to get on with Fisher alright. Think even PWKH acknowledged personal relations were OK when this all started to blow up.

So not inconceivable the team manager would agree.

Given current circumstances, it'll be used against him if (when!) we lose a few games, mind...

Corrected that for you Otis ;)

Like SBTony pointed out, how woeful is it that after nearly eight years the clubs owners are "looking for direction".
Fuck me and some still think fisher is doing a good job.
He may have cut costs, doesn't take a brain surgeon to do that, but finding the direction of the club after eight years whatever the circumstances may be, is totally unsatisfactory, and for me a complete failure

I saw that when Googling, I have seen people even use Football Manager etc too as the databases are that well maintained!

We joke about FM, but they have a massive scouting network. Mostly fans I think. Obviously they don't get them all right and are probably a bit biased (I bet Ponticelli is awesome next version), but they're better than nowt.

Funny thing is scouting is one thing you'd think fans would do willingly and for free, people are always posting up players we should look at. Just need a dedicated email address people can send tips to then proper scouts to follow up.

I guess it's whether it would save time, siphoning through the masses of detritus people'd pass on.

Or we'd end up, ultimately, with the entire football league and beyond being recommended!

Just need to curate a few trustworthy fans who watch lower league clubs. I suppose you don't want hundreds of jokers recommending Messi.

Ah sorry, thought you meant TM wasn't!

Surely MV would be one of his assurances he sought before being full time?

Not sure what that has to do with the yet again missing scouting network that SW was supposed to set up ahead of TM signing. Did it ever happen? If it did is the fact that we don't have one again down to TM? MV? CA? or maybe even part of TF's cost cutting exercise that has allowed him to brag that we've made £1M profit? Why are we going through this cycle again not even 2 years after it was apparently put right last time a manager arrived with reassurances about rebuilding and scouting? What happened to the previous scouting system prior to SW sorting one out ahead of TM signing permanently? Presumably it hasn't always been the current managers laptop and there was one? We're a shambles and the only constant in this cycle are TF and SISU. If you want to point the finger there really is only one place you can point it.

is it not very worrying (or perhaps revealing) that we yet again have a manager saying there is no infra structure, no scouting, recruitment etc................ didn't, Slade, Mowbray, Pressley also say exactly that?

Where is the money coming from to build that?

Easier said than done. I know it's all about the Big Society nowadays, but am not entirely convinced that volunteers actually save time and money. I mean, I know that my judgement's impeccable ;) but suspect many would argue.

Suppose it'd do no harm to scope the idea out.

Out of the £1M profit of course ;) I thought you were an accountant :)

While I agree that a lot needs cash, I'd say the biggest indictment is that there are no systems in place. You don't need cash to be organised.

That being said, surely every new manager needs to buy themselves time by (in the nicest possible way!) pointing out the things they have to repair from their predecessors...

I rate Robins, but sadly he will leave the club with the same excuses as was said before. I think he is the right for the job, just unfortunately the same owners will promise him the world and deliver very little in the way of tools to compete. The managers job becomes a very frustrating one when you progress on the filed only to be told someone or something has to go to fund the future.

I think Robins is a good appointment. Given what is going on at the club I am not sure about his comments regarding the owners & Fisher were the best way to start. Still a few wins and all will be forgotten .............................?

To be fair, they probably are "good people", they are doing a bad job though.

I can still remember the optimism when Slade was hired ...
Whilst I think Robins will be an improvement, I'm not foreseeing a dramatic change in fortunes until we bolster the squad.

Was I the only one listening who thought that perhaps something else is going on that may lead to the club changing hands sooner rather than later

If this is the case whatever the manager thinks of the selling party it wouldn't make sense to insult them while negotiations are going on

Time will tell

what made you think that mate? Didn't hear the interview myself so be interested to hear what gave you that impression.

It was the usual out of the box initial managers interview. Yes didn't like the comment that they are good people etc but the results on the pitch that count. When we were winning last season, all of the troubles suddenly evaporated and would be nice if we could get close to something similar

"Fisher and Sisu are good people"

Yeh right

Robins had a phone call last Sunday to come back???

Another rushed appointment by Fisher
Not in the gospel according to Simon.
