Can't understand why you feel the need to ridicule my comment Nick? It's really quite clear that if positive sounding news coming from the club re recruitment etc would encourage people who are otherwise feeling let down by this seasons rubbish on the pitch, may just cause a rethink on their purchase of a season ticket. I'm not sure your Mike Ashley is a valid comparison

It was hardly ridiculing it, I said I can't understand why people would listen to what he says or his words before buying a season ticket.

"Tim Fisher bullshitted about something, that's me not going to watch the team I've supported since a child".

If anybody really listens to something said like that and rushes out to buy a season ticket based on that (rather than it's because it's the team they have supported for years etc) then I have a cousin in Nigeria who has some money for them.

My other thought is whether a decent scouting system could be used instead of an academy.

ie instead of paying 600k a year to develop our own, we could scout lower leagues like Peterborough do and sell players on that way.
It was my first thought too when i read Robins' getting the tools for the job. Downgrade the academy and split the money saved between scouting and a downscaled youth set up.

I'm not sure how bad a thing that would be to be honest, obviously if it did give a decent scouting setup like Peterborough's to raid lower league teams or other academies youth players.

Woah hold on Nick, I've not said TF was bulshitting, I was merely pointing out there could be an ulterior motive in this. Why do you feel the need to create a conflict here, I assure you that's never my intent when joining in topics on here

I think it would be bad, we ARE a lower league team now. With a better academy you're getting a better quality of kids entering it to develop. This method relies on picking up the players who slip through the good academy's cracks, go on to develop and then hope we sign them before anyone else does. Seems very high risk.

It isn't creating conflict, just saying that I cant understand why somebody would read that and rush to line up for a ST based on it.

No worries Nick, we can just agree to disagree on this

The guy is full of shit, heard it all before and if this is the case then why now, FFS why has nobody asked him why has it took him 6 years or the owners 8 year to work out a plan. All bullshit, all said before and all about trying to pull fans pants down again by selling us a dream that now they are engaged with the club.

He is obviously trying to sell fans to invest in the club through ST's. He has got more cheek than Nicki Minaj, But then again, i would if i was him, i mean the man has point blank lied since he has been here and got away with it. So i suppose his train of thought is why not play the same hand since turning up, its never failed him yet.

I don't think he'll be lying this time, it's just his 'LOOK OVER HERE, not over here' tactics. He's using the opportunity a new manager presents to make it appear we're doing things properly but I'd wager at the expense of the Cat 2 academy and therefore it sounds positive but in reality is further downsizing of the club and probably saving more money.

Not really, they weren't really unknowns. We just bought them from the League below.

I'm talking chris stokes types etc. Conference and below.

The argument is that what Tim Fisher says and does* directly affects the quality of the product you're buying. If he's saying positive things you might be inclined to believe the product (next years' season ticket will be better). And therefore I can understand the scepticism about statements like this coming out close to the time of ST renewals.

Whatever Mike Ashley says won't affect the quality of your Kangol jockstrap from Sports Direct at the end of the day.

*I await comments about what Tim says and does being completely exclusive of each other - fair point!

If anything is going to be read into this, it's about the ownership of the club. The stance in the last year has gone from:

- The club is not for sale.

- Every club has a price.

- We haven't had any concrete offers.

Interesting.

Yes, but I'm not basing my support on what he says or what shite he comes out with and doesn't backup. If I was judging whether to buy a season ticket only based on the quality then I wouldn't be a city fan, as it is pretty much expected!

If I judged by some of the stuff said, I'd never go!

I totally agree he is an illusionist, not only does he distract away from SISU, he does it internally with the club, anytime he can blame other parties or state progression has been made but its confidential, he will. He should be in politics if i'm honest, they also have the same treats he shows when he is being interviewed, he pivots like the best of them, he lies like the best of them and he is a horrible individual like the rest of them.

He uses fans as politicians use people, all to sustain a position of power, by telling us what he can do for us, the only difference to him and them is every 4 years the fans don't get to vote on if they can change the man at the top, sadly.

But I'm sure some people do. In fact I decided not to renew my season ticket from last season based on the noises coming out of the club. Not a decision I've regretted often by the way!

What's the net impact of having the cat 2 academy versus the next step down? Don't we get £500k funding if we invest £500k ourselves?

Legit question has someone done the maths previously

the comments here are one of the big problems TF has. He can say what he likes but many simply will not believe or trust him. So long as he and SISU are here that will remain for many fans. It will be interesting to see if Robins can change things around (say be challenging in L2 when we get there) consistent success is the only thing that will make the difference............ I do not see anything in what TF has said that is going convince many to follow him, and without the support the decline will continue surely?

as for the budget available in the summer............. well a lot of players leaving will help create a budget, in L2 the salaries are smaller, the potential for player sales/trading, add ons from previous sales, the Wembley windfall.......... but they have to bring in players simply to have a squad

The club put in £600k and the extra £500k is funded by the Premier League

The main issue with a Category 3 academy is that clubs can only sign players at the age of 12 I believe. This would give other clubs in our area the chance to poach our local youngsters. I doubt the likes of Maddison, Stevenson, Christie and Wilson would have come through our system if we were Category 3.

Being a Category 2 academy enables us to compete with our local rivals (who are mostly Category 1) for players at the age of 8.
