So, what's he about? Really upped his game two weeks before Wembley and was MOM at Wembley but for the fantastic technique deployed by Thomas for his goal. Robbins effect? If so, how, why?

Going through the motions?
Lack of managerial /motivational inspiration?
Realisation signed for an effed up club.
Advertise himself by playing in the final.
4 managers in one season?
There's a Crowded house track in there somewhere. B-)

i spoke with a bradford mate of mine when we signed him, his analysis was that on his day he can and will win games for you, the rest of the time hes shite. From what i've seen this season thats a pretty fair analysis. Not sure whats changed recently but seems we are seeing the better half of his game now!

Blows hot and cold but the idiot Slade didn't even give him a real chance.

Reid is another who oddly performs in the cup games. He will consider himself above league two.

He's being played where he should be played. It's that simple.

One of those I'd like us to keep because he should destroy league 2 but if he left I wouldn't be disappointed because he's under contract so we'd receive a fee and he's one of our higher earners.

its tactics for me. we have a proper manager now. only slade supporters put it down to reid wanting to earn a place at wembley etc

It's definitely tactics, Mowbray brought him in and everyone knew he was an old fashioned left winger. I'm sure Mowbray said this in interviews about trying to fit him in to the 3-4-3. On the left of that front 3 Kyel was ineffective and the wingback was furthest wide and he was coming inside. Venus hardly used him then slade came in and for the first couple of games reid was okay then slade went with Reilly left midfield instead. Now in a simple 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 Reid is thriving. He looks like a decent player again who can scare defenders. His end product has even been good which no one thought he was capable of

yeah he put alot of crosses into danger area but unfortuntley we didnt have many bodies in box. but that pass to pick out thomas was sublime. not to mention his desire to get on end of beavens pass. more to come under robins hopefully.

What tactics did we deploy in the 22 games Reid played prior to Slade even arriving?

wrong ones as we had venus in charge for majority of them before pub slade took over. and as poster pointed out earlier mowbray tried him as inside fwd and wingback and that didnt work. hes in his element as a winger.

We're doing now what we should have been doing all season. A simple 4-4-2/4-5-1 with players in their best positions. That's why we've improved. In all the years I've been watching CCFC I've never seen 5 and the back 3-4-3 or wingback work. It sometimes seems managers pick formations because they are in fashion in the PL or after a world cup/euros instead of actually playing what suits the team best.

Until robins arrived Reid was probably one of the most disappointing signing for me this season (Yakubu aside.....).

Promised so much after how he tended to play against us, and I was genuinely pleased to see us sign him. But he's been awful when he's played. Very disappointing.

Then enter Mr Robins. Reid has been like a new signing!

Running the wing. Always looking to take a man on. Giving himself something to run on to. Using his pace. And has had a few assists in that short period too!

Along with a lot of other players it's a real shame he didnt find form earlier in the season. Who knows what might have come from this season if he did!

Not sure he'll want to stick around for league two but if he did and he could keep up this form I'd be very happy!

TBH SW, I think pace is something he is lacking. yes is he tricky, but he doesn't have a burst of speed. If he had, he would have had a better career I think.
