This is nonsense.

Don't see that NS, we are at almost rock bottom why would anyone but idiots like us with Sky Blue Goggles wish to take this club on.
Anyone who puts money into our club is throwing it down an endless pit.

Hoffman's bid tbf is a bit of a joke. It's a convoluted miss mash of promises and open ended maybes. It's just not something to take seriously in my opinion.
I guess rather than cash he is looking at a way SISU retain some equity over a period of time but without control of how that equity builds or loses value before being cashed in.
The problem I sense is Hoffman's consortium do not have the financial means to give CCFC anything much better than what we have with SISU. Both will continue to tread water with the difference being the evil ones would all be gone. So you give SISU another 1m when we reach the Championship? How long will that take? What guarantee could there possible be on such an offer? It's all a bit absurd tbh...and this from a banker.
Just listen to what Hoffman is trying to sell? One look at OSB58's summary earlier demonstrates just how complicated the 'club' ownership is.
If I walked into a business for sale and said I'll give you a bit of cash but I'll pay you some more when I get control and earn off the business...effectively paying them with their own money? All I see is court case after court case from SISU claiming "where's my money". Seriously?
Yes you can get some cocker mania offer on the table and hope they will take it in desperation but this isn't it.
I'm sure Gazza and Elliott want to be heroes and save our club but like the back of a fag packet before, he just seems to be making waves. Perhaps it's all for publicity to attract other investors?
Perhaps with his background and contacts within banking he could sell a similar 'plan' to the bankers he has high profile with, and raise capital to say to SISU..."OK her's 10m all up front, now fcuk off" That might work. :)
Maybe, there are funds available from the investors but Hoffman et al are being cautious about stating this as SISU will expect some of it up front.

And the offer as it stands is for nothing really, isn't it?

Throws away future income in terms of transfers (shades of Robinson, and the Newmarket scheme there) and a never-never promise of cash in eleventy billion years.

So, given the offer is for nothing, others would be happy to come forward with an offer for nothing... if that is what it would take to buy the club.

So if that's all SISU would accept, why would you poke the bear with an offer you know they wouldn't, that would make them dig their heels in, and make them less likely to accept *all* offers going forward?

If, however, a deal *could* be done, why does it have to be an oligarch or Arab Prince?

That's how they respond. It worked exactly this way when we came back to the Ricoh. Ended up being back channels that agreed the deal after much squabbling in the press.

It doesn't have to be a sugar daddy type but the in-between type of investor is also nowhere to be seen , I can't see any other offer even in an infant stage being discussed.

All I am saying is that in my view the only people willing to take this on would be actual Sky Blue Fans.

No way anyone is giving SISU money like £10M up front.
Three things new ownership with local connections does is ...
a) bring local sponsorship in (it has collapsed under SISU)
b) possibility bring in other investors (no one will work with SISU)
c) a period of stability during which the club can secure its home and training facilities

Hoffman and friends are willing to "throw money down the drain" to try and make this club successful again ,we want SISU out because of how Joy and Tim have ground this club into the ground and still we have the same people calling them down ! It's downright weird or am I missing something? Can't think of anything worse than the way it is at present . Personally I don't think the pot of money offered is enough for Joy now that the club is breaking even but they have a lot of work to do to solve the building problems of the ground ,academy and possible season ticket boycott that they are not relishing . With Fishers position looking shaky, another CEO to groom could be a bridge too far ! Let's hope so

Hopefully it could unite the fans as well as we seem to be getting more divided and that is helping Sisu keep control

There is no doubt season ticket sales will recover to pre SISU levels.

These are top business people led by a guy that the government appointed to get HSBC back on its feet - The offer in these circumstances is generous and well thought out and not really a risk on behalf of the consortium but would be a risk if anyone else possibly tried to copy as this consortium seem to have the in depth knowledge and heart of the fans. The consortium will have no issue with financing this deal going forward as the 20,000 + fans attending the Ricoh for home games that will back the new venture will shower the club with wealth that will enable the club to climb as high as they wish
The plan isn't the issue? The issue is the owners and what they feel they have already invested and the recoup whatever the figure actually is - The return will never be able to be recouped and the latest offer cannot really be increased so possible a stalemate situation and the possible demise of the club as the fans will not continue to attend

We would get 20k+ once maybe twice maximum look at when we returned to the Ricoh.

I wonder if Hoffman has actually asked Joy what she would accept or he is just fishing? She might not tell him anyway, of course.

Because there is always someone who thinks they can do it better.
That carrot of being able to sell 43000 tickets for a "tinpot" Wembley final will make potential owners feel they can do something with the club. You "only" have to get to the Championship and it opens up a completely different investment market of people who have resources and think they can take it to the next level.

Hoffman had nothing to do with HSBC (who have never needed getting back on their feet).

Hoffman was head of Barclaycard and Barclays UK. Was appointed CEO of Northern Rock after their difficulties then left to NBNK Investments (which failed - not sure he was still involved at that point). Believe he's currently CEO of Hastings Insurance. The guy will have plenty of wealthy contacts.

I doubt it's been restricted because of swearing (surprised if it's been restricted at all). Not sure what it's for, let me look into it.

Edit: Not really for swearing (although dropping the c-bomb is bad enough), more for the way it was used to insult someone. There are kids that use this site, you have to use a bit of common sense, and this site is definitely not for insulting people in am aggressive manner that could certainly be perceived as bullying by some. If you would like to be banned, let me know. Can certainly arrange for you if you're desperate to have something to shout, scream & cry about.

If they think they can get things moving and will be able to give Joy a total with add-ons of around 10 million... then, as someone has said, they should go to a bank or financier with a business plan -- and 5 million own capital. Then ask for 5 from the bank and give Joy the 10 cash on the table.

If they haven't got the confidence, finance or a plausible business plan, then Joy will tell them to get lost. It's not Joy's job to finance them. Avro are still waiting to see what happens to their money. If they got their investment plus interest back things would look different.

So it's not Joys job to finance them but it's their job to bail Joy out?

You do realise that not that long ago Chinese paid £30M for a championship club, with a championship squad, their own stadium, their own training ground, their own cat2 academy, pretty sure they were debt free and in profit also.

Based on that what makes you think that a failing league 2 club with no ground, rents space for their academy, is in debt, is barely breaking even and is basically a shell of a company run by an idiot is worth a third of that?

I think you and Joy for that matter need to go out and look for the yard stick.

This offer (unless GH comes back again) is probably as good as it's going to get for Joy. She's a hedge fund boss. She's used to taking gambles with other peoples. How is this any different? Except she doesn't have to even get involved with managing this.

Do what you like. There are people who swear regularly. and where Cyber bullying is in place, I'd look a bit closer to home. If you want to ban me then go ahead. To the guys that have become Internet friends Don't let the bastards grind you down...Oooops! See ya!

Exactly. She can just sit on it until some mug comes along- or Hoffman and co come up with enough money to put us, and themselves as fans, out of our misery.

Unless the telegraph start a petition calling for the owners to put the club on the market then according to half this forum there is no one so there's no point. Not accusing you of that by the way, it's just a general observation.

Free pass? Some on here think he would be worse than SISU.

I don't think anyone was really said that, have they? Some are just curious and rightly questioning a takeover.

You know why? Because the last takeover we all thought would be rosy turned out to be really shit. It's natural for people to question these things, especially when they've already been stung once.

Football ownership in general is throwing money down an endless pit especially the higher up the ladder

Clubs like Bournmouth and Southampton are where they purely because of who purchased them.

To be fair, would people be bothered if they didn't have loads to throw in but instead just built the club up steadily?

Indeed and one thing that should be out in the open is what's been agreed regarding the stadium.

One thing any investor would demand to know is that so I'm sure a deal in principal is agreed.

It could be the funds are required to pay an increased rent over a long period - in which case we'd be condemned to where we are now.

Mortgaged to wasps and mortgaged in the future to sisu.

Is this a joke?!Why would a bank give money toward a plan that Hoffman has already suggested will be a complete gamble and could result in 'money down the drain'. It's not a delicatessen or a restaurant!

Why are people falling for this 'proof of funds' nonsense from SISU. It's the usual spin. Look at their statement / open letter for a brief glimpse at how out of touch they are.

As I said if they haven't got the confidence to put at least half of their own money forward there is no point making, or trying to make, the sort of offer Joy would accept. A bank would only even consider backing an offer of, say, 10 million if 5 million was already on the table and they were covered in the same way as Arvo. And there was a convincing business plan behind it - which would include any deal with Wasps which they may have provisionally made. And some personal guarantees should it goes pearshape. It is actually potentially a better bet than a restaurant- if you count the history behind the brand and the golden share.
