Rumour: Hoffman and Elliot takeover negotiations (4 Viewers)

Nice try but that's nothing like what I said. Information has been leaked out deliberately, knowing who by is another piece of the puzzle that might allow us to see the bigger picture.

If Wasps were involved I would consider that a very important detail as I would have serious concerns about their motives. Do you really want the club to be used as a pawn in enabling Wasps to get a lucrative naming rights contract that benefits them and not us?
At a moment like this I am more interested in us getting stronger than it may make someone else stronger.

I would settle for a cheap long-term rental agreement if Wasps were to gain on naming rights. We would have someone to negotiate instead of someone who states what they want and nothing else will do.

50% of transfer fees for 5 years sounds good. Who said they have to sell? If they wanted us to compete they would keep our best players.

Or have all transfers as undisclosed and tell SISU it was a tenner.
Yeah SISU really that simple.

Which is what Nick, Dave and others have been saying and getting moaned at for it.

But nobody disagrees that there needs to be scrutiny, but I think some people (not necessarily the people you mention because I haven't read every post) are trying to do that now when there isn't anything to scrutinise. Lot's of second guessing and searching for answers - answers that cannot come right now, because the bid hasn't been accepted.

If it is, then before any deal is signed-off, we'll have every right to demand to the see the detail and understand the plan, and I am sure that will happen. I doubt very much these individuals would want to move forward without knowing that they have the backing of the supporters. It's all academic though, until SISU accept a bid, or at least sit down for formal talks, we have nothing to scrutinise apart from the headline figures.

All well and good saying we need to see all the details so we can scrutinise them and then make an informed decision. Either before anything is agreed or after a deal is signed. But in reality what's the point? Whatever happens will happen and 'Big Dave off the internet' not liking some of the terms released isn't going to change anything either way.

You're probably right. I would imagine though that the individuals involved, having witnessed how toxic things have become, would at least want to explain their plan and get some backing for it before they fully commit. I imagine they would be reliant on winning back the stay away supporters to make their plan viable, which would be difficult if there is negativity and cynicism from the start.

Very true. However people shouldn't be shot down for being curious and asking questions, particularly when the bidder was part of the regime in the past.

Similarly there are people on here who say asking those questions on a forum will scupper again deal. That's rubbish. Like you say it is out of our hands and will either happen or not.

But was Wolves owner prepared to sell? Then everybody was happy to find a price.
SISU seem not prepared to sell, so normal valuation is pointless.
Forget the spreadsheets and go ask them directly the question we all want the answer to: What will it take for you to sell - what terms and conditions must a buyer accept and what will be the proper process?

What makes you think Joy isn't prepared to sell? If you allow SISU to dictate terms a sale is never going to happen. We may as well all give up now, except the inevitable end that the club is heading for and start a phoenix club now.

Not saying we have to see all the details there are some good reasons that some details have to remain private. The details we do see create questions or should do. Why be scared or apathetic about asking, if we accept we have no influence we shouldn't be surprised or moan when we don't. Never been one for blind acceptance I don't expect that from my clients I have no problem with them asking questions in fact I encourage it. It is how I operate that should be obvious to any one on here. It doesn't imply criticism or undermining or anti, it is interest and clarification.

It isn't that it is Hoffman either, I would raise questions in much the same way as I would of anyone seeking to own our club. Just because they are not Sisu or Fisher does not mean I shouldn't ask.

We got in to this mess by blind acceptance and not questioning. We can't afford it to happen again however well intentioned the start or how big a fan the new owner might be things can turn out badly. I hope in this case for the best outcome.

Don't see the problem, certainly don't see it as weakening a bid in fact it could help strengthen it. If Hoffman saw it as a problem that would worry me a lot, I strongly suspect he doesn't

You are very likely right to do so Which is precisely why there must be fans asking questions. Not because in all likelihood Hoffman is not the better option but because the future of the club is so precarious the next owner has to be the right one not just a better one.

Anyone reading this thinking I am putting his bid down or fighting against it would be quite wrong and should read my posts more carefully

Just want people to go in to ownership change with eyes wide open

Like we all did with SISU, 10 years on and we've still not actively as a fan base enforced the transparency question of who SISU's investors are?

There is no way we will see all the details, and why should we, we are not the ones putting money up to buy the club. Giving out details such as investors and proof of funds before a deal is agreed in principal would be mental, and akin to showing your hand in a game of poker. After any deal is done it would be nice to know who is involved and their plans for the club going forward, until that point we are bit part players. I just hope a deal can be done it would make buying a season ticket a much easier decision.

Said at the time as part of another forum be careful what you wish for with a hedge fund owner get no pleasure in being right about my caution.

Still question who the investors are and will continue to do so until the EFL & FA change to and enforce robust rules

Not sure we as fans have a right to see the details,it is after all a Private Company not a Public Company with share-holders.

Just listened to the 10 min radio interview and thought Hoffman came across really well.

I want to believe, I really do. We need a change. The pessimistic scepticism inside me is still nagging away though.

Unless the leaks are a ploy by our current owners to invoke some sort of bidding war between other parties as well?

Don't know why I bother

Totally baffled by Sisu and their business plan. Yes, they invested money but it turned bad. They don’t have a hope in hell of ever getting their money back that is obvious. Things are going to get even worse for them next season with fans falling away.

I really don’t know what they are trying to achieve. Time for them to cut their losses and get out of football
All very frustrating

For who? The club would be giving sisu more money than they do now and locked into a long term deal at the wasps at their mercy.
You stick with Sisu then. Good luck.
I'm moving to not going under Sisu camp.

Whilst I can't imagine anyone being worse owners than SISU it's clearly possible and those calling for caution are just being sensible. What is apparent is that Gary Hoffman appears to be a Sky Blues fan and Joy (despite the apology for the relegation) doesn't appear to be. I realise that the decision isn't up to us and SISU can continue to throw offers out from anyone they choose. I do hope that whoever is the owner of our club that they give a toss. That they are more interested in building bridges rather than destroying them, in events on the pitch than in the High Court and won't move us to Northampton (or any other similar distance again). That the Chairman isn't a would be politician who ducks questions and blames everyone else for our woes.

I know that I'm probably dreaming but it's a nice dream to have. PUSB.

I'd be pathetic to keep putting up with this nonsense under Sisu.
It may change but that's how I feel at the moment. It's a lost cause.

Good for you. However no one wants to stick with Sisu.

Latest update: Hoffman given extra funds by new business men this morning and Joy is at Higgs with a team of advisors. She was advised not to go to Ricoh for her safety. Are we on the verge of a takeover?

Just hoping it's not Fake News

Think Linnell has just accidentally confirmed Elliott is one of the investors. Was talking about the bid from 'Hoffman and Elliott' and then tried to backtrack.

It's pathetic because it's obvious wasps are drip feeding you with information and its in their financial interests if we are distressed and sign an arrangement with them.

It's pathetic as they don't care what happens to the club as long as that deal is agreed.

It's pathetic as you then say "stick with sisu"

It's pathetic as I stick with CCFC and I stick with them. You still with your bosses - they pull the strings and off you go doing a silly dance on their behalf.
