Just had a look at Dawn Butler's twitter account, she's on about getting British Sign Language on to the national curriculum. This is what I mean about the Labour obsession with minority groups.
How would BSL benefit the majority or learning it be a good use of teaching/learning time?

Good lord, just a muddled attempt to make accusations about democratic unfairness which she couldn't explain followed by an attack on a company for 'not paying taxes' which it turned out she wasn't too sure about and withdrew. What is staggering is the 19,000 majority she has considering she is so inarticulate, but then she represents the peoples republic of Brent Central.

She later fully withdrew the accusation when it was pointed out to her that Costa Coffee do pay all their taxes in this country.

There's nothing wrong with it to a basic level in Primary school - but not in a secondary school.

"Teach X in schools" is a shitty policy thought up by people who have no idea how to come up with an actual effective policy.

Most schools I know have had BSL lessons available in some form anyway, there's usually a mumsy TA who is overly keen on training everyone.

As a young person who has voted in every election and referendum I have been eligible to, comments like that are so God damn frustrating. Of course, the generation before has done such a smashing job of running affairs over the years...

I said sadly. But the reason pensioners get so much cash thrown at them is because they vote in their droves. Even if the young matched them on turnout, there's still far fewer of them and always will be.

If you want minority groups represented in Parliament you need PR not FPTP. If you want that you need a government that doesn't benefit from FPTP. Good luck with that.

That part I understand, and is why I struggle to get why so many others my age or younger are so enthusiastic about voting Tory when it is a demographic they couldn't care less about. My late grandfather voted Labour for over 60 years on the basis that despite being well off society had an obligation to the less well off and that wealth needed to be redistributed more evenly. Seems to me that voters like him are pretty much a dying breed and the majority now are in the 'I'm alright Jack' category. Which will see Theresa May get elected with a stonking majority while months later people wonder what's happened to their tax credits/hospitals/schools/police etc.

I also see that Jezza has gone proposing an extra 4 bank holidays for each patron saint of the UK. For Christ's sake stick to the important issues...

People on this thread are saying that Labour are only concerned with minorities and many people, particularly on the right have been saying that St. George's day should be a national holiday for an age. I think 4 extra bank holidays which would benefit everyone in the country and give recognition to the individual nations of the UK is a great idea. I can't see how anybody can be opposed to it.

Corbyn on IS, I find it shocking he wants to talk to them, they need to be eradicated wherever they pop up.

You'll get a lot of scare stories as the only thing that will stop a thumping Tory majority is voter apathy.

A few scare stories about Corbyn as PM and getting sturgeon fast tracked as an MP to be his sidekick will do the trick.

Great to see Corbyn and co trying to ensure a hard left candidate can stand in the next leadership election. The pathetic coronation of Marxist Len the other day will ensure labour remains hard left and absurdly unelectable for a few more years yet.

It does seem a bit turkeys voting for Christmas.

The other thing that I find frustrating is when people will happily ignore facts. I have discussions with my Dad (a lifelong Tory voter) and you can present clear facts and just get something along the lines of 'that can't be true'.

Oh please. Do some research on Mr Corbyn and what he stands for. Its all in the public record. If you genuinely want a racist as PM, a terrorist as Chancellor and Dianne Abbott in anything but old Jeremy's camper van then you are welcome to it.

there is no regime on earth as loathsome as the Sauds whom May has been cosying upto recently. Misogyny. racism, sectarianism and terrorism are all charges which can comfortably levelled at them. The MET is also investigating possible war crimes in Yemen so that could soon be added to the charge sheet.

To be honest anyone who'd vote for Corbyn is either a labour voter come what may or just completely deranged.

Regardless of political persuasion you have to have a degree of competence to run a country. Corbyn couldn't run a whelk stall in a local market.

May is far from competent herself...what a depressing election.

The global markets will view her as competent and that's all that matters and her experience in key positions makes her a giant against a hapless Pygmy like Corbyn

Yeah that's why the markets tanked when first time politician Trump won. Oh wait, they did the opposite.

You seem to me proving my point for me. Corbyn is anything but a first time politician but will be viewed as unstable in a global economy.

It's really not a difficult concept to comprehend.

The media is very good at what it does, quite simply. That Grendel here calls a social democrat one of the 'hard left' shows how far right the country has been dragged.

McDonnell is possibly the most dangerous man in British politics. A man who openly believes in assassinating his enemies, bullying intimidation and abuse fir anyone who stands in his way

It's known he pulls Corbyns strings.

Ignore the danger at your peril

John McDonnell is deeply unpleasant man – and Jeremy Corbyn wants him to be Labour's next leader

Where has he openly called for assassinating his opponents? As for the intimidation, do you really think that similar things don't go on behind the closed doors of the Conservative Party? I have no time for either, but let's not act like the other party is full of angels. I'm also still waiting for you to comment on Mrs May's arming of the Saudi regime as they commit war crimes in Yemen and behead their citizens for witchcraft. Why is she not a terrorist sympathiser as well?

"Anyone who votes Labour is a Labour voter"

Stunning political insight. ;)
