I was under the impression we receive no match day revenue, and had always assumed that included season tickets

pretty much a yes from me to all your views. We still have to wait for the offers to come in tho and take our better players off us( not that many ). You are wise holding off with ur season ticket. But then again you must renew because it will be ur fault if City/ Robins fails to get promoted. Robins will wonder what he has signed up for come August. Wish him well with Sisu/Fisher round2

You can come out of Aldi with everything you need and more if you are wise with what you have in your hand to go in with.

If you take your Aldi budget and buy a couple of things from Waitrose you may be left dissapointed, unequiped, and out of cash.

The first is what Robins needs to do, the latter is what happened last summer and needs to be avoided. The manager has to be responsible with the budget and get the best out of it even if it isn't great. A good manager should be able to do that at least...

Retention build on what we have what a joke.

Again we'll have the usual situation of hanging about until the last minute seeing what loan players are available. Probably a lower amount and lower quality available to League 2 side.
When you're looking at bringing in at least 4 or 5 loanees as part of first team squad and don't know what's available until last minute not easy planning other permanent signings.

No need to panic I tthink Robins will have a fair idea who he wants and maybe can get that's why imo he's desimated the current squad loans will be extra, as they aren't usually available until late July.

If you look at Robins' signings in his last year at Scunthorpe, most were signed before the start of July and joined on 1st July. Hopefully that's the case again this year

We can build a team competitive enough for league two on frees alone if shopping is done accordingly.
It's gonna be a team of unknowns who people will say who, he sounds shit... from Chester, Cheltenham or Morecambe, but this is what it needs for a change.
Add that to a striker who's scored goals in league two and it may just work. Proven players will be key

I would add, any contracts offered to remaining players only for one season. if we do get promotion, dump them. L2 fodder will have to go. Hope Robins is ruthless.

If you work on that basis then a good portion of Bournemouths match day squad would be ditched as they won promotion from league one too, Burton Albion also won league one with there league two players.... will Lincoln ditch there national league fodder??

Yes I understand your point. My point is that the remaining players have already failed at L1 level, so why not just use them in L2, then offload. My reasoning is very mercenary and also to satisfy my own anger for the players to share some of the blame for relegation in the first place. Did Bournemouth or Burton keep failed players when dropping leagues?

Bournemouth highly unlikely as they had financial troubles but likely a few stayed like carl, steve fletcher.
Burton always been on the upward curve...
I see your points tho

I think this summer will be perversely interesting, especially to see how it pans out vs Mowbray's summer transfer window last year. When player sales happen and when our own signings begin will give us a big indication how bad the cashflow issues are over June/July and may give us more insight into why last year was such a mess. If we compare like for like, Robins has already done step 1 of what Mowbray did last year, and release a massive amount of players (think it was 12 with Mowbray including MAF and Joe Cole's early release) so early days yet I know but no clear indication that any mistakes have been learnt from by the clubs hierarchy.
Although I still think Mowbray got it badly wrong, I'm sceptical that Robins will have the full freedom he needs even within a limited budget, and with people sitting on their season ticket money for now (which I totally get) I'm pretty fearful at this point that we're in for a grim summer and another season of struggle.

Tony Mowbray had targets last summer and we all know how that turned out !!!

I think Tony's problem was that he was constantly trying to get proven quality from higher leagues, that were never gonna drop down. MR should be looking at drafting in L2 players and take a punt at some of the best the National League has to offer. There's plenty of realistic quality lower down, some of our best signings in recent years have come from the lower divisions and some of our worst from divisions above.

Recruitment went wrong last season by not setting deadlines. for the better players T M was trying to get.( Sign up by or we move on ) They need to identify their targets offer them a deal give them a certain time to decide .I personally I don't think we need a team of muscle men like a lot on here seem to think. Hence I would like to see us trying to resist offers for the Stevenson's of this team.

TM was punching above his weight in the market tho, if anything is to be learned we need to shop to what we can realistically attract..... national league and league two players with a casting eye on league one players also.
As as someone said, set deadlines. Here's our offer, are you interested. If not move on.

Was it T M who done any deals or did he just identify the players and leave the M V to do negotiations whoever it was a flop .Someone did post that the budget was altered at the last minute if true that did not help. If you were a player in the N L or league 2 would you consider it progression moving to a club that that probably won't have a ground to play at after next season.

There are some hidden jems in non league football. Vardy was one not too long ago. Bring in players on 1 year contracts lose them for nothing if they work out to be decent. At some stage we need to look towards the future.

We can have as much away support as some clubs average home attendances. Are Accrington Stanley a better pull than Coventry City? Average 1,700 including away support.

Or how about signing for a club that is looking to get promotion that has just won at Wembley or signing for a club that has the aim of staying in the football league.

MR needs to give those who have been offered a deal to stay a deadline of taking the deal or moving on. He has to know what he needs and where to strengthen first and foremost. Otherwise he will be swinging his dick in the dark all summer waiting for things to drop his way.

If he can convince those he has offered contracts to on the lower pay grade to sign it will also give him knowledge of exactly what he has left in the budget. Massive job on his hands no doubt, but players are out there and experience in this league could be key so L2, L1 could be the option. I would not however waste my time with players from higher levels until you have a stable squad that you are happy can compete at the level we find ourselves.

Bringing in loans from higher levels should be at later date once the premier and championship clubs have sorted the squads out.The only other reason I would look at premier, champ clubs would be 1st or 2nd year pro released lists with regional born players being high on that list. Time and money are not on MR side so he needs players to commit early if he is to have a chance of a good start which is will be important for confidence.

Don't fund on the start of the season fund for the season as a whole.
Plan to come straight back from day one with a top 2 budget.
Watch everybody come back as we storm the league.
Sell Willis and Stevenson and use that and the cup money to fund the start. Communicate to the fans exactly that and let's see what happens.
....... or we can fund for mid table from day one get poor crowds and finish exactly where Fisher budgeted us to be in mid table.

That sums it up, they want mid table budget with a MR miracle.
