What we could do with a Big Mo type of defender (1 Viewer)

How immense was he? We never got to see him much in the Prem because of his injuries, but those first three seasons in the Championship, how good was he? I can still hear the crowd roar as he charged like a bull through the centre of the pitch.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG MO, enjoy your day you legend!

He was incredible remember seeing him getting his teeth knocked out and then carrying on a truely hard defender!

He was awful most of the time.

I enjoyed watching him play, particularly surging out of defence with the ball. I never thought he was a good defender though.

Very brave because he had to be as he was having to make big tackles unfortunately most were caused by his bad positioning

He was a fans favourite for sure. But was he that good a player? Took him a while to get into our team didn't it? And I'm guessing his stature helped him out a lot! Opposition player would clearly back off as his skill was limited yet somehow he found his way through on 'those' runs.

Not sure we've had many better chants unique to us though since!

We need to remember he was playing against premiership strikers not Willis against over rated pub players but Grendel knows best doesnt he the prick........:bored:

He joined in the prem and I think he only became a first choice once we got relegated. I would suggest that's because he ground his level. Strachan spent a couple of million on him I think

Big Mo - ah loved his passion and effort but I do have to agree with some others and Grendel and say he really wasn't that good a player or defender.
Does anyone know what's happened to Ben Turner.....doubt he'd go down to League 2 level but rated him above Mo and is a big lump too...

I liked big mo, not the best or a gifted player but his desire and commitment not to be out done by his man was the overriding factor for me.
A huge fans favourite in the west terrace, including the streaker one night. Remember her? Straight up to him and a cuddle for big mo!
If only a few more players had the desire and commitment he showed, suppose his background made him thankful for where he was and job he had.

He did play in the PREM. He came on as a sub VS Spurs are White Hart Lane. He literally headed everything. Mo was a puzzle to me, I think he would have been a better lower league target man than a centre half.

Not a great player-couldn't fault the commitment though. He comes from Bosnia you know?

Elliot Ward was by a country mile the best defender we had in the championship.

I'd say Dann was far superior to Ward. I remember him being pretty poor in this game which I had the pleasure of being at. His arrogance held him back, in his head he was Bobby Moore. In reality he was an average championship player

LOL, nailed it. Still playing for Palace in the premiership.

I think the biggest lol is you pretending you know who either Scott Dann or Elliot Ward are

Oh and if we are basing the best centre halves on premier league appearances post departure from us who owns that record after Scott Dann?
