Would like a big no nonsense defender or decent experienced GK next.

The tweet they put out definitely left a feeling of more signings this week unless it was just to try and sell more season tickets.

A target man in Chris Porter will do me or a big keeper in Alex Cisak. Central defender David Murfin will do too.
Failing that Chris Stokes putting pen to paper, surely some of the existing lads should be deciding asap or you'd have to question as a manager there intentions on staying after all.
At what point as a manager do you move on in other targets and get deals done.

Still put 16 goals away tho last season, experienced target man who can be a useful target to give us a outlet when teams are on top against us on a difficult day/night in December.

Scott Loach would be a good signing IMO, better GK than we've got and looking for a club I think.

For sake of argument if none of the players offered contracts sign I think we will need...

1GK
1 RB
1 CB
1-2 LB
2 wingers
1 striker

Hopefully stokes and Haynes sign and that will be the LB position sorted.

The way Robins is going any player that hasn't accepted a new contract soon will be replaced with someone at least as good and any offer withdrawn.

Leon Best woukd be a good choice if he accept a wage drop. Big "if" though.

However would really set the tone for what we are going for..

Sounds about right I think!

There hasn't been much mention of Reid, he was a high earner in L1.

A lot of talk about baker recently. I know from a good source that robins has contacted him about joining and he is keen to join but only if Portsmouth will pay him out of his contract. So all depends on whether Portsmouth will allow him to go

He wants Pompey to pay him out of his contract so he can be released and move to a new club?

Why would they pay a player who is under contract a year's wages to move on a free?

I did think this when I heard about it. Don't know if the person who told me meant he want to be paid out as in allowed to leave or have his wages paid for the next season.

Also I suppose the argument is why keep a player who doesn't want to be there

If pompey want him off the wage bill they might pay up 25% of his contract and then baker it free to sign for us

If he doesn't want to play they would surely either transfer list him or something.

Can't see why they would pay him off and release him rather than just sell him for a nominal fee.

Indeed! That's what I was thinking.

The goalkeeper situation does need sorting as a pretty high priority. Someone who can organise a back 4 and not leave them worried about commanding his area against physical forwards. Keep either Burge or RCC as an understudy but get them out of the fray.
