All too often managers go for players they've managed before. Nothing wrong with that on one level - if you know what they're about and trust them, of course you should bring them in. Sometimes, though, it suggests a manager's a bit lazy and hasn't scouted players.

Robins's signings aren't his ex players so far. This, to me, suggests he's actually thought about what we need, rather than just signing people for the sake of it. Of course it could go horribly wrong and they could all be shit, but I'm at least reassured we're thinking about who to bring in, rather than just pressing the panic buy button.

I wonder how long they have been scouted? As we have no structure in place and if we do its 4 days old lol

Widdringron must be armed with some info on many players already i imagine

Exciting.

What's 4 days old? Widdrington has been here a month and a half and Robins longer so assume he had an idea on the "types" he wanted.

its certainly different to what we're used to. These days a lot of it is done online, there's a couple of systems you can subscribe to and the players / agents post up all their details, videos etc so you could get something up and running very quickly.

Add in someone who knows L1 / L2 / non league and you're pretty much there.

I just hope that Widdrington and co have an eye for good players and we get some gems, something for the younger fans to idolise would be nice and of course us older fans too

Anyone know when players are reporting back for pre season. Don't know why but I hope we are coming back a week early, signal of intent and all that

Not so much who comes in, but what will players like Doyle and Kelly get out of our existing players? No doubt they will all up their game too, they won't be half arsed as they won't be allowed to be so it might get the best out of wingers for example knowing Doyle and Kelly are in the middle.

I'm not happy where is Marcus Tudgay - what is wrong with Robbins can't he spot a talented up and coming striker.

On a serious note this is surely the way to do squad building, aiming high and landing low like TM did last season is no way to operate. Like all 4 signings to date.

It was a joke. I just plucked any small number out of the air. I just me robins only just joined and talked about how no system in place and now we have 4 new players in already.

Its a good thing that everything moving along fast.

Great to see acquisitions early, we for so many years have waited to the death and then brought in what's left. He has clearly assessed the roles he needs and got his men. Whether he is on a shoe string budget or exits to follow will tell the tale I guess

We just need a goalie along the lines of Kelly and Doyle I think in terms of experience / quality for League 2.

Judging by Robins' recent comments, he's only halfway done with the signings. Expect 6 more full-time players to come in, the out of contract players that re-sign, and then loan players when EPL/Championship squads are confirmed. An exciting summer ahead.

Will have to see how it goes but on paper looks like Robins and Widdrington are doing a great job. For once, I'm optimistic.

i've been very very pleased so far with the recruitment but then i need to keep telling myself I haven't seen any of them kick a ball yet....

I remember being thrilled at a Mr Pressley getting bodys through the door. (I'm sure they are all much better than that shite, but just need to keep feet on the ground)

Who did we get Bodys from? I don't remember him.
