Your not calling me "the special one" are you?

In all seriousness he could certainly be the pick of the summer business we could do, and be a huge part of the jigsaw for getting the goals needed.

I'm with you special steve could be the one we need

Thought that was paper talk currently?

Few ways to find the fee tho....
1) George Thomas compensation fee
2) sell Jordan Willis
3) Chris Camwell compensation fee
4) can Jordan Turnbull walk for free or sensible fee if he triggers his release clause?
5) sell Stevenson for a squad sizeable fee
6) sell Cian Harries for a sizeable fee.

Be trimmed down and in the telegraph monday then.
5 ways to sign James Collins!!

Someone saying on lutons forum that they have put a 175k bid in with 25k extra if they go up. Probably nonsense

Numbers stack up, 200k be around about right... relatively cheap to what he can bring over a season

For £200k got to be worth a pop? Add in Thomas, McNulty and another AM and there's some goals there.

Wonder if there's room to buy before we can sell.
I would think they would have to sell Willis or Stevenson. Wouldn't mind that to be honest. Get him in quick Robins!

If I were a Crawley fan and we were selling a striker who just scored 22 goals last season I would be mad that means half there goals from last season have gone for £200,000.If we could get him for that sign him up. Don't sell players to pay for him if he got those goals for us gate receipts would compensate for that.

The trouble with our club is we have get the Micky Doyle's and those in sell Stevenson or whoever the likes of Doyle and the others is they are what you want right now 12 months down the line they will be too old and you will require the Stevenson's to take you to the next level for what you get for these players hang on to them and there value will increase if you do need to sell in the future.

James is a big Cov fan and lives in Sutton Coldfield so would be ideal move for him and us

This is more than just a rumour. Whether it goes through will depend on finances.

He's a target man type striker and he'll improve our team. It gives another option too, which isn't a bad thing.

How much would the signing of James Collins (if it was done!!!) help in the attempts to get George Thomas to re-sign?

A young man out of contract pondering his next move.... he'd be looking at the squad at the minute thinking I may add 10/15+ goals myself, McNulty may do the same if we both do well but that's not enough, there don't look to be goals from anyone else yet.... maybe it's time I moved on and left for pastures new.

Or with James Collins added to the squad he'd be thinking I may add 10/15+ goals myself, McNulty may do the same if he's a target man to feed off and James did get 20 goals in league two last year.
Yeah things are looking a lot brighter for me... James may bring a few assist my way and I get 20+ goals, that will really help in my continued development in the game while we should be in with a good shout of promotion.
Things feel good, I'm settled and MR is really trying to build something. I'll commit!

but we haven't sold Stevenson yet. Why not wait until it actually happens before complaining about it?

I would like us to sign him, as he's the right age (26) to get even better. As always, funds dictate though.

A Luton fan on Twitter claims that they have put in a bid that we can't match and it's just a matter of agreeing personal terms. Hopefully not true

Hi All, Luton fan in peace.

The guy who posted the rumour about Collins offer being accepted is normally pretty reliable I must admit. However of course no personal terms have been agreed. We're in quite a fortunate position in where we have some money from
Burnley staying up from the Andre Gray deal so the cash is there. But we shall see. Whatever happens good luck for the season.

However others are saying he is signing for us on your forum. We will find out soon I suppose

He's a 1 in 3 man... let's keep it in perspective

I think you just did put it in perspective.....
he offers goals at a good rate for a target man, assists to those around him, a outlet to offer a different approach and style of play and hold the ball up when we're are struggling to get out our own half.

Let's look at the scoring ratio his league two rate is slightly better than 1 in 3
Marc McNulty is around 1 in 3
If George Thomas was to stay you'd like to hope his rate was near 1 in 3

That equates to a possible 46 goals between them alone on them ratios.

Luton town fans seem to be pretty confident a bids been accepted that we can't match. Let's hope that's not the case.

Some of them say he's off to us. Few different stories as to what is happening

It's because apparently a reliable fan on twitter for them who has got a few right has said he's off there. But he just could be making it up in the hope he becomes more reliable.

On the tweet the guy put 'I'd be surprised if Coventry could match it". He never said we can't. Just making assumptions.

Have we all gone mad? Do people really think that Sisu are going to actually spend £200,000 to sign a player? Lets get real.

I think they spent more than that on a player eighteen months ago.

First of all never trust anything you read in Luton Outlaws. Trust me on that one. I can only comment on the guy who has tweeted it. He is 99% of the time right. But it looks like it will come down to personal terms. Personally 250k which is from what I've heard isn't the offer been accepted is more than enough for a league 2 striker.
