If we have offered cash for him it would suggest that he is the priority target for Robins. And if we managed to get him I would expect us to at least make the playoffs. And it might help getting any other targets.

We as fans can only speculate to his transfer targets as we will never no unless the club confirm he was/is our no 1 target....etc

But MR will no like us that the team lacked goals, leaders, experience guile, bite and men who are required to help the younger players along who will also be vital in moving the club forwards.
He's already set about changing that in Doyle and Liam Kelly, and added to that physicality with Rod Mcdonald.

We've got Marc McNulty a player with promise and previous form but needs help up top just like George Thomas will should he stay.

I think James will be instrumental in helping George choose his next step in his career or others we enquire about.

I'm confident MR and TW are well prepared for targets over the summer.

Ouch..... could be all over if this article is correct or we sell someone quickly.

Jordan pack your bags son!!!

"James has two more years left on his contract and is very much part of our plans for next season and beyond."

Collins is also believed to be happy at Crawley, which would further hinder Luton's hopes. However, it is understood a bid in the region of £500k could persuade Crawley to sell, should the Hatters be prepared to shell out that much on one player.

Coventry City also entered the race for Collins over the weekend, but while the Sky Blues have already made a number of summer signings, they have mostly been freebies, and the cash-strapped club are unlikely to part with a sizeable transfer fee.

Warning over Luton Town transfer target

I personally think James is gonna need to hand in a transfer request I think to land this one.

I think this 'hands off' from Crawley is merely to get the best price possible. 200-300k should do it. Would think he would want to join us over Luton.

£500k they can fuck right off.

That stance will change.... they only hold a temporary upper hand here. One transfer request later and sensible bids will come in for him still and have to be considered

They cannot hold onto a player who may end up unhappy and refusing to play should he go down that route.

Players do that unfortunately and Crawley ain't on a position to drop him and let his contract run and pay wages for passengers.

If he wants a move it will happen to the club willing to take him or he opts for if the choice remains.

I didn't quite say that.... I'm just saying players seem to have the power over there clubs there registered to.

If he wanted to force a move then he could.

I'm not suggesting he has ever or will tho....

yes hes comingggggggggggggg

source-agent of some luton town players
Yes but some Luton fan said never trust what you hear on their forum. However he did say that a bid had been accepted from them and it was from a reliable source on Twitter which was false. Someone apparently 'in the know' on their forum is convinced he's coming to us and he has told all his friends he is leaving to come here. All speculation at the moment

Why would we spend a quarter of a million on him? Is he really that good?

He scores goals and that's all I care about to be honest. Him and McNulty up front would be one of the best attacks in league 2

Last season was an exception not the rule. He struggles even in league two to get more than 1 in 3 - he's a 14 goal a season striker normally.

agree

dont get me wrong happy to pay for a proven striker but 250k for anyone in league 2 is a lot. if he was young with lots of resale potential i could understand it

We won't spend 500k, no club who are in league two will for him.

He's a very good physical old fashioned league two striker worth 200/250k

Or you could see it as him coming into his prime. To get 20 goals in an average Crawley side is exceptional. Accompanied by McNulty up front then i think he would get 20 again

If we pay decent money for him could that indicate the takeover might be a bit further down the road than we think ?
