There must be. It can't be as black and white as "cut your wages or see ya"! Something surely has gone on in the background. Maybe if this is true there were clauses in his contract. Relegation pay cut clause maybe?

god knows what is in their contracts being in football but I would assume they would have to follow the usual statute to consultation, business case etc. Restructure the role slightly and down grade it and bingo..

Not really-an employer can change your terms and conditions if the correct notice/consultation is given and reasonable grounds are given as to why. The perfect excuse here is relegation and lesser budgets etc which anyone looking from a neutral (outsiders or judge etc) point of view would deem that a reasonable request.

If he signed a contract and there is a clause in it he is fucked, if he aint got contract he might have a case, other than that he can get a job down sportsdirect Printing the names on shirts.

It could be that as he's been in the job since the Premier League days he was still on Premier League terms
I don't know it for sure but virtually all companies who hit hard times look to cut costs. High earners are vulnerable in those circumstances
Several of our highest earning players have contracts that mean they are on a lot less money after relegation to League 2. We'd expect them to leave if they can find a better offer as reduction in wage clauses usually allow the player to leave
People on PAYE are naturally different
Sunderland recently made lots of their non playing staff redundant because of relegation

Friend of a friend and sorted us a few signed shirts etc in the past, see what I can find out. Very sad if he has been shat on

I don't like this kind of thing, distances the club further.

Plenty of ex players are pissed off with this, some people who know him are saying he wouldn't take a pay cut.

Seems like another pr own goal by the club

Something doesn't add up here. Why would you make the kit man redundant and then immediately advertise for a kit man? If that's what happened then he'll take them to the cleaners at a tribunal. Just changing job titles or messing around with the job description isn't going to get them off the hook for that.

They will just add extra workload change the title and boom it's a new job.
It is done all the time.
I went from team leader to cell leader at one company, then shift manager to production manager at another happens all the time at automotive suppliers.

Telegraph said his official title was welfare officer in recent years so they will have removed some of the duties to bring it back down to kit man and along with it a pay cut.

It's more the handling of it than the cut itself, for me at least.
Double the price of the tickets for the Mark Robins dinner and kit launch to 20 quid, announce it will also be Andy's send off with him keeping 10 quid per ticket sold and that he will get to reveal the new kits. Then as a surprise, Froggatt (or whoever) present him with next seasons kits with 'Harvey' on them and the number 25 for his years of service, all signed by appreciative former players. All the anger would be gone, it would cost the club 2 shirts and the PR would be vastly improved.

So if this right he would have been dealing with players unhappy, disgruntled etc, I bet his caseload was jammed to the rafters.
The CT should get an interview with him and find out the truth!
