Let's not forget Coventry City V Notts County was a top flight game in the 91/92 season.

Its not being self indulgent to think how we have fallen. Nothing wrong in comparing what was with what is. Just need to keep things in perspective, be realistic about what we are now. Most fans I would think were eager to see the list and many will have thought of days gone by when we played bigger and better teams, nothing wrong in that. There is not one fixture there that really excites me. No local derby, nothing that I would call a big fixture. But it is what it is and I hope CCFC can finally have a positive league season. Lets hope this is the start of progress up not down the leagues

To think it is nailed on promotion is I feel unrealistic, even if it is what is expected

Lets get on with it :)

It will not be easy, most/all of the teams will be up for bringing a supposed "big club" down. The teams in August ended last season with some momentum. September will give an early indication as to how the season might pan out, it has 7 fixtures against what would seem to be stronger teams in L2. Other key months look to be December & January. Do well in those months and we should end up challenging. Always supposing we don't do poorly, as so often in the past, against the lesser teams.

Hope MR can address the squad issues that have plagued us for seasons, leadership, physicality, speed and above all goals. But I do not expect this to be an easy season.

You're confident of getting away tickets ;)
I would be delighted if I couldn't get away tickets myself. It would mean we are winning nearly every game. It is the only way that most glory supporters that have a ST would go to away games ;)

Very naive if people think we are going to walk the league / promotion.

It's awful league as many guest fans have come on here and advised us.

I'm optimistic as I am most preseasons but we've plenty of recruitment to do to see a play off spot

If the club cannot bankroll a ptomotion chasing season in league 2 i think its fine to moan and protest further. We hsve terrible owners end of the day, only thing that can stop total fan anger is some on pitch success.

It looked early in summer like sisu gonna back MR as much as possible. If he keeps getting his preferred targets we have to be in contention for top 7?

I'm with you. We are a top 8 budget league two team with no home in 12 months, unless you count number one choice of the butts.

The worst is yet to come.

Unless SISU go of course and then we magically get transformed into a mega rich premiership level team that will piss all over the leagues on our march to where we belong........

Didn't work at Blackpool... doubt it will here too

Why would we have an invincible season?

The reality is we are in League 2, even as a League 1 club we wouldn't have an invincible season against League 2 teams.

People need to get past thinking we are in the Premier League or have a god given right to be there, it's no wonder they get so angry / annoyed every 5 minutes.
Duck me you talk some shit Nick.
So you really believe all that shit you have written?

Teams in contention for top 7 I think will be

Luton
Exeter
Carlisle
Colchester
Wycombe
Notts County
Port Vale
Swindon
Stevenage
CCFC

In financial terms then looking at what info is available to be successful in L2 Turnover has to exceed something like £4m it seems (just my guess)

You may of missed Mansfield? They are strengthening very well.

I believe the teams who will be in for promotion or the play offs are

Swindon
Chesterfield
Port vale
CCFC
Lincoln
Forest Green
Mansfield
Exeter
Notts county
Luton
Stevenage
Cambridge
Crewe
Grimsby

With relegation scrap between

Newport
Morecambe
Cheltenham
Yeovil
Carlisle

Interesting (as they can be) fixtures, August will be telling, Notts County will have similar expectations to us, but then Grimsby, Newport, Yeovil I imagine will be fighting at the bottom come the end of the season.

If were not in top 7 after those 4 games could be a long season

I remember us playing Grimsby in the championship!

Same here. I was the only one who celebrated us scoring in the whole stand I was in. Their away end is freezing in winter as there is no protection from the North sea wind at all.

I'm expecting Grimsby to have a similar budget to us. So not expecting an easy game.

Usual fuck up by the Football League with far too many matches which are two consecutive games either home at away. Oh, I forget the fixture list is computer generated, so let's blame the computer rather than the buffoons at the Football League!

If they did alternate games home then away you would either be home or away every weekend when you have a midweek game. The only way around it is to have 2 home 2 away.

Pleased we don't have to wait long to see Sladey again ;)

Not so pleased that Exeter is a Christmas game! :(
Same here. Exeter is a long drive for me for a football game. The wife never moans about me going away for a couple of days......but at Christmas?

I was going down the fixtures thinking "that looks easy" but then I forget how far we've fallen and how shit we really are - sad times :-(

Not a single fixture worth getting excited about!

Was there one last year?
