i was in the Sates in March and spoke to a few people who voted Trump and couldn't stand him, they did think he was still the better choice of the two though.
Be surprised if he sees out his full term and don't think he'll be bothered, I don't think he realised it was a proper job.

Couldn't stand him but voted for him. That's the problem. How many voted for Clinton but couldn't stand her?

Merkel is sensible? You are having a laugh...

As I have said several times, the conservatives are a huge part of the problem here, but that isn't the point I am making. I am saying Merkel is making things worse, and she is.

If you want to use the analogy of the pub, you've got it all wrong. It is more like: Someone is waiting outside and says 'can I buy a pint when you open'. Everyone says it's fine and in their best interests, but one person, the manager of the bar (Merkel) says no. Not 'maybe when we open', a flat 'no'. Why is that? Because she is a fucking child, and even though it should be in her best interests to sell that beer and keep her bar running, she would rather refuse.

Also, I don't read the mail. None of that shit actually. You already know that though.

You don't know my pub or Merkel. No negotiations before negotiations or no beer before opening time. Simple. You're welcome during opening times btw.

Where are the UK positioning papers? EU papers are there. Negotiations start Monday. We want to leave asap but don't know what to put in our positioning papers.

Merkel would know.

It seems like the UK is making things worse by not knowing what they are negotiating about.

Don't agree with this at all. Le pen got into the last two of a french election and got a third of the vote. This was unthinkable before. 5 years of more EU might sway the french people more in 5 years time. Wilders shouldn't be even in a conversation in Dutch potlitcs but became a prominent figure. Why?

Trump won in Usa fair and square and if you ignore the press his voters actually like trump and what he is doing. The democrats need to name something and they seem blaming trump and Russia should do it.

As for Ukip, you say bye bye but they have single handedly got us an eu referendum and achieved a leave result. Of course they were going to have a come down. If they don't get the brexit we voted for Ukip will be bigger than it ever was before so it's best days may even lie ahead.

Let Pen got hammered in the end 65 35. That is not close. Close is 52 48.

Trump won by bullshitting and insulting people. His ratings are at an all time low as people see what an idiot he actually is. He won't make it for the whole 4 years. There has never been a president so ill educated, generally thick and dishonest. Hillary isn't thick and is more eloquent than this idiot. Would have been a better choice after all.

UKIP are toast whatever happens with Brexit. If Brexit doesn't happen it will because the mood in the country has changed due to economic factors. UKIP will then be blamed for Brexit.

Farage will never get a knighthood and there will never be an Independence Day or a hard Brexit.

If UKIP had singlehandedly got us a leave result, that would be tantamount to claiming that 52% of those who chose to voted thought this was true, and a fair representation.

Fortunately, a number of people who voted leave are quite, well... normal really, and don't go in for casual xenophobia.

Totally wrong.

Le Pen got closer than she should have done and got a lot of leftists quaking, as did Wilders. May still won (not that she is that right wing anyway). AFD is not done yet. Trump still won, and just because a bunch of cry babies are smashing up coffee shops doesn't mean anything. He still got into power, unbelievably.

UKIP did their job and that was it really.

Put the The Independent down.

Btw AFD got 6% in Schleswig Holstein. 94% seem to prefer liberal lefties and Merkel to your mates in AfD.

What is mega-rich nowadays though?

When the well paid worker averages with overtime(/overall 45hrs worked a week) around £40k what what disposable income is left after tax etc? Not a lot! But then there is a big leap from the average worker (I'm including middle management there) to the bosses (£100k/yr?) & the captains of industry (£1m/yr?)

Most of us dream about having £1m - & many of these people are paid it annually even for mediocre successes or even failure!

But they aren't even anywhere near the super/maga-rich...they already have £10m+ stashed away probably (it's all lager undefinable)...& increasing rapidly imo.

Until proper perspective is regained & these myths about some of these guys needing big salaries (as this might turn out to be their last job - errrrrr that could be because they're shit at it!? So shouldn't they seek work in a position they can actually perform well in instead - on lower salary???) the gap will get bigger!

According to Labour, the rich were classed as £80k+ were they not? Most of us dream of getting near that but I suppose that amount is also relative to where you work & live i.e. in London that amount would probably be the equivalent to £60k in the midlands.

With larger salaries comes larger responsibility and the directors that I know in my business who are probably on £100k plus are experts in their field but have the responsibility of a business worth £2bn turnover a year. That comes with a lot of sacrifice and stress and given the levels of expertise not many people can fill those boots so again goes to supply and demand.

I had to do 3 years at uni and a further 3 years to get my industry qualification whilst all my friends were out earning better money, getting hammered most nights and able to buy nice things. Thankfully through hard work that had evened itself out and I am probably doing better than most but again that come with a lot of sacrifice. I travel around 3k a month to do my job which has impacts at home but what gets me through it is that I know I can provide for my family. At some point I would want to even that work life balance but I want to ensure I can live comfortably.

The mega rich have probably been put in those positions via family and social networks i.e. jobs for the boys and mainly based on 'who you know' but unfortunately there is little you can do about that. Of course they don't need that amount of money as a footballer doesn't but I cannot see that changing.

No I think £80k annually is deemed to be a high earner. Not rich. Rich is something well beyond that & it is wealth that is just self-propogating. Some of those rich don't ever work as we know it. They simply talk with advisors on various investments & moving stuff to increase wealth at the highest rate...& bugger the rest of us!

Being reported that there is no deal with the DUP imminent so May will unveil Queen's Speech without a Commons majority. It's said to contain only a third of what was originally planned and will reveal several u-turns from the election manifesto.

Sky News' Ireland correspondent described talks with the DUP as "a quite extraordinary debacle" and the DUP have reportedly told him they have "been surprised at the low level of negotiating experience" from the Governments side.

What a total shambles. Would be surprised if they manage to limp on without another election before the end of the year.

The words Brexit means Brexit sums it up. To date no one knows what Brexit actually is. We are leaving, but under what terms. How can such a government even negotiate with anyone, let alone a nobody provincial party.

May must go.

I'm sure even then you'd find a way!

In fact I think of some of you agreed with everything in the manifesto you wouldn't vote for them. Hatred of all things just because it's Tory is equally bigoted.

I'm not sure what else the government could do under the circumstances. You give in the DUPs demands, you're "in bed with the evil irish party", you stand your ground "you're a shambles". Its a negotiation. You're not going to give up ground unnecessarily and its like the leaks by Junker following the recent meetings, totally unprofessional. So they cut the queens speech down to the main bare bones policies that don't particular follow any party ideology. I still not sure a workable alternative has been put forward by anyone ?

ps its not dissimilar to the hypocrisy currently being shown by blaming the terrorist atrocities down to "Police cuts" but asking "do you mind policing our anti Tory marches" whilst we're in the midst of the worst period of attacks in recent memory and following on from the recent tragic events at Grenfell Tower. If Corbyn and the shadow cabinet had a ounce of decency and public (rather than self) interest they would've called for at least a delay to the marches.

Interesting point about policing the marches, watching the documentary about policing in London they did an anonymous march and the police cost was about £1.5m I think. They were basically babysitting bellends who wanted to throw flares into crowds and kick off about shite.

Imagine where that £1.5m could go.

The decent thing to do would be to put together a queens speech based on the manifesto they ran on just two weeks ago. If they couldn't get this passed then they can't form a government and should let someone else try. If they can't form a government then another election is called. If I was a Tory voter I'd be pissed off that they're going to try and push on with basically nothing that I'd voted for.

Also to expect people, many of who'm have lost friends and relatives, not to march and pressure for reform of the awfully unequal housing policy in the capital after the tragedy they've just befallen simply because the police aren't being funding properly is just cruel.

Rumours flying around that they might try and force her out with a leadership challenge now the queens speech is out the way. Could be an interesting week ahead.

I've got no issue with people protesting for the right reasons (Grenfell tragedy) but the rest on the same day isnt right in my view

The protests should be against the council and contractors, not the governement. If it's true that the council is sat on several hundred million I'm not sure May should be taking that flack for that one !

Ps whatever people think about May (and admittedly she was shite during election campaign) some of the stuff being said, shouted and written about her is a disgrace. All this bullshit on social media that if you don't like someone's party or agree with their policies they're suddenly scum is an embarrassment to democracy and this country.
