Seventh signing - Peter Vincenti (1 Viewer)

Really excellent signing, a MF with more of an eye for goal than anyone we've got currently - if he keeps fit then he could be one of the leagues top scorers given the chances he should get from those rickety L2 defences!

I only know of this player because he's a local over here so whenever him or bret pitman or Kurtis Guthrie score they are always on the news , he seems to be rated like,

It worries me that so many of you don't know who he is when he's played against us 6 or 7 times and was one of the stand out players in League One 2/3 seasons ago. What do you watch when you're at the games?

I'm generally looking out for you to see which one of your stylish yet practical hand knitted cardigans you're wearing.

I'm not too sure I'd be that fussed at the minute if he's replaced
Seconded! Don't get the love in with him at all. Apart from a couple of goals what did he actually do last season? Hardly had an impact at all.

I notice in the background of the picture of Vicenti some heavy machinery, looks like SISU are building their housing estate already....
That will be the fracking well under construction. :emoji_anguished:

A home grown 19 year old centre midfielder who had to play in front of the worst defence in our history, in a team with 2 headless chicken wingers and barely a striker worthy of the name in our squad. I know you've got a massive downer on our youth system but surely you can see that after a pre-season of bulking up, playing under a decent manager, in a better team, he's worth another season.

yep. Why a 20 year old with no previous league games before last season didn't drag us out of the regelation zone I will never know !

Imagine if we sacked off Wilson that pre season before he hit the ground running

Seems another good signing and in line with the previous players Robins has signed someone who knows this level.

Last year we had no leaders in the side apart from Ricketts until he retired then Clarke in between his injury absences. We could all see it especially our inability to hold onto leads. Of the 7 guys signed so far 5 or 6 of them are described as leaders and most have been involved in League 2 promotion campaigns

Which will hopefully make others raise their game and prevent last minute howlers etc

Solid signing. It's always imperative to have a versatile midfielder in the squad. Seems that CAM has been identified as his strongest position, however previous managers have ben quoted to have said that he can pretty much play anywhere in midfield and still excel. Makes me question what formation we will predominately use next season though. One can assume Vincenti will start alongside Kelly, with Doyle playing every other game considering his age.

Now that the CMs have been covered we need to look to wingers to sure up our midfield. At the moment we only have Jodi Jones. If Thomas signs, our right side will be a serious threat, but I'm personally not holding my breath. Therefore, assuming Thomas in fact rejects a contract extension and Reid is considered surplus to requirements then Robins will consequently need to bring in two solid LM's and an experienced RM as relying on Vincenti to fill the role as both a winger and a CAM/CM would be an unneeded risk.

Earlier in the window Robins said that 12 are to be bought in, however I think this figure will obviously fluctuate based on those who exit the club between now and 1st Sept. Harries, Willis, Stevenson, Reid, Turnbull, Beavon, Haynes and Thomas are all not guaranteed to stay. This concerns me because if worst comes to worst Robins still needs to bring in the remaining 5 players he promised earlier in the window as well as up to 8 replacements.

We've already completed some shrewd business in the transfer window and I'm personally pleased with our acquisitions so far. But similarly, it's no secret that there's still a great deal of work to be done.

Only slight concern about this signing is that, although he can play a few positions from what I've seen his main position is right wing, which is George Thomas' position. Hopefully not indicative that Thomas' future lies elsewhere.

Ah fair enough. That's what I get for googling him too quick and reading what I wanted to read :)

Yes I agree with that. Unless Thomas has spent his summer on his runs (more likely with the runs if he joined others in an all inclusive Marbs fest ;)) and finishing 1v1.

Hopefully we can utilise Beavon while he's still here and have him help Thomas out pre season
