Yes and I went to both games .

Remember clearly this and the replay. The replay at Derby always sticks in the mind as a great win as Derby were one of the top sides in the country. City played really well in a very close match. Cross scored in extra time and remember going crazy when he scored.

It was our first Sunday game at Highfield Road, many thousands of Derby fans and free entry but an expensive programme which was compulsory to get around the Sunday trading laws. I recall that it was a by product of the 3 day week, it was the FA refusing to extend the season.
Most thought our chance had gone with the draw but a great night at the baseball ground saw us edge home.

There was also a gate which was left open for those who didnt want to buy a team sheet. Think it was required by law. Some took up the option of the freebie but the vast majority paid at the turnstiles.

The first Sunday game I can remember was a 4-4 with Brum unless I've just made that up.

As I recall, there had been Sunday games before but this was the first Sunday game between two top division teams (even though it was a Cup game).

You're right about the 4-4 Torch. I remember that game as much for how bloody cold it was as for the 8 goals. I think it was just after we bought Nick Pickering and Alan Brazil.
