Glossop or the High Peak is in the county of Derbyshire which belongs in the administrative county of the East Midlands, but geographically is in the North West of England.

There's no administrative county called East Midlands.

They are within the geographic area /cultural region generally referred to as the East Midlands. That's because they're in Derbyshire the whole of which must be described as an East Midlands county.

In my opinion.

It is an administrative or statistical region.

Scotland.

How are you going to try to justify Scotland being in The Midlands? :shifty:

Only you on this debate would even try to

What a surprise.

I came up with an accurate guide. Grendel comes up with what is called the rough guide.

The Midlands is an actual area. When you drive through Lincolnshire you will see on some signposts the way to the Midlands. Why do they bother if you are already there?

When driving up the M, I'm sure there is a sign that describes Coventry and Birmingham as 'the north'. Lincolnshire is very much part of the Midlands. Sheffield can also be considered north Midlands, despite the fact that most people in Coventry would consider it the the north.

These days, anything about the M27 is the north to me.;)

When you drive towards the Midlands you get signs for the Midlands. This includes when travelling from Lincolnshire.

Manchester Piccadilly station could be a good meeting point, as you can pretty much get anywhere from that place??

I think Crewe would be a good shout, I think most of the Manchester trains stop through there and Chester/North Wales trains run through their too.

There will be some games I drive back for, which I'll be happy to put out for car sharing for any city fans based up that way

Crewe would suit me, only a 2 mile lift from the missus. Could even get her to drop me at The Brunny for a couple of swifties first.
Crewe station is a major hub and pretty much connects with anywhere.

I'd be up for a boys day out meeting at Crewe station. Only takes a couple of hours from here and easy to get to.

Grimsby or Chesterfield first Northern away games?
I'll be at both - if you are going to either, PM me the name of the new signing and I will let you know which pub I'll be in, at either game, and you can meet me to redeem a round of beers (if the rumour subsequently turns out to be kosher, of course!)

Its a big problem when you move away from the Coventry area that you no longer have fellow Skyblues around you. I was born and brought up in the Banbury area that has loads of Cov fans back in the pre 2000 when I lived there but as soon as you move away you lose touch with those groups, which is natural.
A lot of them were oldish then so lots have passed away, plus the Northampton fiasco most left now don't go.
Went to live in France and now back in Norfolk where every fucker either supports Norwich or Ipswich, which is great as you should support your local side.but very few desperate masochist's who support Cov
Someone should come up with a footballing app where you go on and say id like to go to this particular game but have no one to go with who supports Cov for example, each club having there own site sort of thing, so others could see who might be in the same boat who live near to you, so you could hook up and go together or in groups.
With the big clubs their fans are everywhere, but for clubs like Cov the few get more spread out as we age as people move away from their birthplaces so is a problem.
It is great to go to a game with someone who is equally mad enough to support Cov, you can help each other through the mental anguish

Been living in North Yorkshire for 18 years and a life long Cov supporter from Banbury. Going to the Mansfield game if your around....

I live way up north in a little terrace of railway cottages near Alnwick in Northumberland. I moved here 2 years ago and to my utter astonishment discovered that my next door neighbour is a massive Sky Blue's fan and a season ticket holder at the Ricoh!! He is giving me a lift to the Lincoln game and I'm catching up with some family and friends that weekend. I still haven't quite got over the coincidences. There are more.

I'm always amazed at the far flung corners of the country our support comes from.
Fair play to you all, can't be easy supporting such a shambles of a club.

From Bawtry as name suggests
We used to have M1 North club which we have discussed on here before. Great away days with about 10 of us.
If anybody wants a lift to a game, home or away, just message me and they will be more than welcome.

I'd love a ride. Can you pick me up in Northern Alberta (Canada) for the Mansfield game?

Hi Mullingar! I live in Hexham, and spend a fair bit of time on the North Northumberland coast, Embleton, Bamburgh, Budle Bay etc. Beautiful part of the world, and good to know there’s some more City fans in Northumberland.
