Bit of a weird one. I'd be worried if this was us done for signing strikers but hopefully it's not. Still need goals in the squad.

He started against Arsenal. I watched that game but can't remember him being mentioned (not that it's a negative as you don't expect Sutton to have many chances against Arsenal). The other lad Deacon went to Dundee

I suppose this means Collins won't be signing then?

We need to plan ahead, could mean he's still coming and this guys a arrived for a "nice wage" as back up.
Ideally we need 2/3 for every position and this guy is unproven at this level.

Anyone seen Sutton play much?

This could be indicative that we've ended our interest in Collins, or alternatively, it could signal that Beavon has opted to activate his relegation release clause in his contract. Hard to know at this point in time.

Could be an interesting signing, looks a big lad. Have to assume Wriddington is playing an integral part in most of these signings, looks positive.

I do like these sort of signings generally, but his record isn't exactly fire.

Will wait and see and hope it turns out well. Surely we have one too many mediocre strikers on the books now? Mediocre not being negative.

Comment the Sutton Forum

"I said it before i rated him highly and felt he'd go onto football league. Superior in both games to AFC's front men.

Games like FGR in FA Cup he showed poor hold up play and other games lack of finishing touch but as the season went on he got better and better and matured.

Coventry have a very good striker in the making imo. Incredible leap, very strong, skillful and can score different type of goals.

I expected to lose him and Deacon but gutted him and Gomis have gone.

In Dos we trust, he's replaced quality men before and will again."

Robins: “He is a raw talent with pace, power and aggression, and is also good in the air. We look forward to working with him and developing his ability further.”

Maybe not a first choice first teamer perhaps?

I recognise Beavon is not an out and out striker and won player of the year but it would still be a concern that even in 2 promotion winning sides where he was an ever present he scored less than 10 in both seasons.

Bit confused about this signing as I'm not sure how needed it was but happy he's here all the same. Suppose he acts as our target man, however he looks to be more of an all-rounded striker. He's just shy of 6"1 and as previously mentioned above he's strong, good in the air and can set up as well as score goals - so he fits the mould near enough.

Does this mean Beavon is off? Not necessarily. Robins will have been looking for a player of this type for a while as it was something we were desperately lacking last season.

Looks a decent addition to the squad. Not sure he will be a starter every week but robbins seems to think he can improve his game. One to watch this season....I'm quite excited.
