no idea playing wise but mentality wise its a huge improvement and that should not be undestimated

looks like physically we will have more battle and grit too

if we had a dinosaur manager i would be worried that we are in for a season of terrible football but with MR at the helm i am confident we will also be good to watch in attack

looking forward to the season!

Yes. More FL experience, more FL promotions, and more L2 quality. Plus G. Thomas, K. Thomas, Stevenson etc have all improved since start of last year/xmas time.

The biggest improvement we have at the club is, we actually have a football team manager now who has an incline as to what it takes to succeed at this level !!

I'd like to see a couple more experienced defenders, maybe another striker and a couple of bodies for midfield.

SlowerthanPlatt - you tend to have a good angle on the youth team. Who can we expect to be breaking through this season?

All that i'd say is required will be experienced RB and CB, 1/2 Wingers, CM and a 20 goal a season Striker other than that, looks very good with the mix of youth and experience

I'd say definitely stronger. I thought our squad was a shambles from the get-go last season. We were playing a CM at RB to put the mess into perspective.

Half of the players bought in were panic buys in my opinion. I refuse to believe TM and MV had done any significant research/scouting into players such as Wright or Agyei. Whereas, it seems to me that Robins has genuinely put in the time and effort to build a team, rather than throw a squad together and hope for the best.

Average age moving towards optimal range 24-28, less reliance on youth who can be great in patches but prone to inconsistent periods.

Think one or two of our new signings are missed off that list?

Definitely could cut a couple from every position.

One Goalkeeper - RCC
Two Defenders - Turnbull + Academy player out on loan (at least)
Two Midfielders - Jones & Reid
A striker - Kwame

We can replace them with better players (apart from goalkeeper which is covered).

add in Vince as well, and that's a squad of nearly 40 players

Squad looks promising to me, and this is before that famed time of year when all decent teams do the bulk of their business - the last week in August.

I certainly feel a little more optimistic seeing that we have a recruitment plan this year beyond, 'Let's just see who's available for loan at the end of the window.'

Squad [ on paper ] definitely looks better than last season .

Only time will tell if it's good enough to win the league !

But I trust Mark Robins in the players he is signing !

And all before the season has started ! that makes a change .

Looks better on paper and would like to think that we will be more mentally tough this season as there are a few winners in there. Only concerns are Burge,Haynes, Willis,Jones, Stevenson, Reid et al who have that "losing mentality" ingrained in them. Hopefully they wont be in the first team anyway if they remain.

Kyel Reid was part of Bradford and Preston teams who challenged for promotion in L1? He also played for Bradford when they reached the League Cup final.

Also a bit unfair on Stevenson who's played about 35 senior games in his career

To me the squad looks stronger than last season although that could change if Stevenson and Thomas leave without getting in replacements that are at least as good as them. I am cautiously optimistic for this season but only because of Robins. I have a nasty feeling that our season will collapse next year if SISU don't sort out where we are playing after the season ends.

Going by your comments any team that gets relegated should clear the entire squad out and start again . I think Stevenson and Willis should be kept if possible .we have got to stop selling our most talented players for peanuts . Think the squad might be stronger than last year but we must get another striker very short in goal potential.(shame about Collins)

Most talented players? Well there's no hope then! The reason they need to be out is they have never known anything other than losing since they stepped through the door at Ccfc. This is ingrained in them, like I said previously also applies to others as well. If that is what it takes to rid us of this mentality then yes we should have cleared the decks and near enough start again. Is that what Plymouth did recently? It was indeed and certainly turned their fortunes around.

So you believe if we get rid of every player we have and replace them within our budget we'll get promoted? What happens if we don't get promoted? Do we just get another 20 players in and replace the 20 with 'losing mentality' every season?

I seem to remember us winning a cup for the first time in 30 years
There were some good players in the squad last year but very few leaders

shmmeee

Yes, but mostly because we've dropped a level, so everyone still here has got better relative to the opposition automatically. Not sure where the goals for a championship challenge this season or a competitive L1 side next are going to come from.

No I don't believe that. But these players didn't even compete at L1 level either. They are losers and will maintain that as it is all they know. Maybe if they leave it will give them a new start?

We're going to get 4 more signings according to MR. I think we'll get a new RB, CB, CM and Winger.

I reckon our striker business is done with Biamou, Beavon, Kwame, McNulty. Sutton said that we moved quickly to get Biamou (probably when we realised we weren't getting Collins).

I've got high hopes for Kwame this season - a lot of people seem to have forgotten about him but to me he looked like a natural goalscorer last year.

The contracted 1st team and fringe players as it stands is very light in areas still most notably in defence, with right footed players. We've currently 3/4 left footed central defensive options with only Willis as the right sided option to play the central role and Mark Robins favoured him at right back previously. So a lot of work to do there and a sale of Willis, Harries or Turnbull leaving changes the dynamics completely.

Another 5/6 players needed on current standings for me.
