People already seem to be moaning on Facebook about the result. Moaning about losing in a friendly to a team two divisions above us. Still, losing to Barnsley, shows how far we've fallen.

we're no different to any other club, Every club has fans that moan all the time

I've seen all that. I'm genuinely not sure if it is fans with their tongue in cheek dark CCFC humour or if they are being serious.

Sadly, I'm leaning towards thinking they are being serious.

Why would they cheer it.

But we definitely have a core of fans who refuse to acknowledge where we are and just live in the past. That said, I'm sure a lot of clubs have fans like that, I guess given, gulp, how far we've fallen means that we have more than most.

We weren't bad tonight. We lost to a team 2 divisions above so need to keep some perspective.
A few positive performances...

Jones started well but was difficult when Barnsley started to take control of the game.

Doyle adds the bite to midfield we've lacked.

Willis looked solid. Will be a big player this year.

Burge looked the better of the 2 keepers aside from his kicking which is still awful.

Devon Kelly-Evans played really well when he came on and looked a threat.

Ponticelli's movement looked good but not yet on same wavelength as teammates. Always moving. Can see him getting game time this year.

Moorhouse although he didn't really impress me didn't look out of place. By the time he came on the game had just petered out a bit. Played on the right wing.

The bad...

Leahy. Just not ready yet.

Vincenti. Tall but a bit slow. Didn't seem to offer a great deal. Maybe just an off game.

That's about it really.

Just heated the wireless up my dad left me, 45 mins with a hair dryer "Sean, always listen to the City on this fooker, never let me down in the late 60s as i worked at the Gas board, came to Coventry with only 3 weeks lodgings but made a living and ended up in a nice house. No fooker came to me asking if I wanted a job I went out and found one. Those were the days son, blokes working at the Standard sweeping floors on more money than me and it wasnt until i did my City and Guilds and level 2 Gas fitting I earnt a few quid plus doing a few foreigners at weekends son. This GEC thing never fails and never use it until Im gone. It will be like the old days son. You need to drink less and make sure you go to church and look after your Mrs and Jess."
Fook me Ive turned it on too early!
I will wrap it away in the old prints of Irelands Own and try in a few weeks......................:woot:

Cheers for the updates Mark! Did a grand job :)

Slightly surprised Vincenti didn't stand out (and I don't mean in height either; you already covered that :))

Thought in Spain he was one of our more threatening players. Was he wide tight today or in the middle?

Looking forward to fridays game now :)

We had a bad pre-season in 2015. Most people were predicting a struggle and even relegation right up until the start of the season proper.

Maybe just an off day. He was playing left wing. Think that's probably not his strongest position, maybe just a bit of experimentation. Where did he play in Spain?

Didn't we have a shocking pre season when we then got off to an absolute flyer under Mowbray?
At least MR has most his players in now.
So he can find out things in friendlies such as Leahy isn't quite there yet.
Or Vince is good on the left.
We normally sign players in August and get their best position by October

We normally sign players to find out they have no position, don't really see much difference this season.
People keep telling me year after year that we have made good signings, hey they have to be right one season.
Just hope this is the season.

If Burge is the better keeper the new chap must be awful and if Burge is remaining as the number one why did we sign him.

So when the GK is our most serious problem, we've actually signed someone worse!

Why do they moan?

Because most of them care it is more fustration with losing then anything else.
They moan because they're stupid, lack objectivity and don't really understand the game they've been watching most of their lives. No-one with even half a brain cares or gets frustrated about losing a pre-season friendly when it's all about fitness, developing understanding on the pitch and the overall performance.

especially when the team your playing is two leagues higher.
Still, it makes a change from moaning about our inability to hold onto players who are wanted by premier league clubs.
