what makes you think we wont continue to have success with him from on field pov? i mean his progress not the teams. he did well 2nd half of season and under robins. that will continue if he stays
Depends on so many things out of his control though. And even if he does do well, why would his stock be higher, having performed in a team at a lower level than he did last season? Maybe he'd only get a move to bottom level Championship then?

Whereas if he goes, he gets to either break into their first team or get a loan move to... a team in a higher division than us, most probably!

I share your thoughts about George becoming a terrace hero.
However football is a funny game and we've a fickle set of fans who could turn on him like last year if he misses a few key chances and results don't go our way.

Currently he's at a career high in terms of performances for cov and for wales in the Toulon tournament getting a lot of praise and making the team of the tournament so has the potential to develop further but are we still the right platform for him.

I think so, I do hope he stays. And if he does I see our front end business possibly complete in MR eyes.

We're not talking Messi here , personally I would say sign up or fuck off. It would be a shame but I feel more pissed with the fact it's dragging on than I would had he left after his contract finished.

This may sound defeatist but nowadays I'm not sure we can expect any players, whether Wanted
or already here to "feel like a terrace hero" or for that to be a factor in them 'Coming or staying.
We play most of our games in a half shut, 3/4 empty stadium where I doubt they even have a Key
to a locker. Home games must feel like a training session.

I think City have to plan that he is going; I assume if we then bring in whoever is replacing him before he has made up his mind, we can withdraw any offer previously made to him. If he agrees to stay before we get anyone in, all well and good. What we don't want to do is sit waiting for a decision before we move. Give him a deadline, or the offer is withdrawn - nothing against George, but CCFC has to come first.

Still have a decent following for where we are. Yes stadium is too big for our current status, but top 7 and crowds will hold up/increase.

Withdraw the offer and we get no compensation. Good decision there.

Hands up Garry - missed that bit. OK keep the offer - just wish George would hurry up and not leave us in the lurch - although you would think MR would know which way he will jump (FWIW, I think he's leaving - hope I'm wrong about that, too!)

Its the players right to take his time on his future but for MR he must get to know the decision before the end of next week Thomas, staying or going is a massive change in the budget i would imagine. The longer it goes on the harder it gets for MR, which is why he will need to be right on top of it when the decision comes down. If i was him i would be looking at the loan market now to bring in a player of that type to cover all his bases whichever way the Thomas falls.

I think we need a Thomas type forward whether he stays or not, I'd like to see us try for a tricky kid from the higher leagues in loan now and if Thomas stays it's a bonus, but at least if he doesn't his replacement can start bedding in.

I can't believe we have but this over 14 pages of, last be honest, an over rated footballer.

We have left players before who think they are so important and spent their arses sat them are batch warmers at 'bigger clubs', Bigi is one for!

Has anyone really been far as decided to use even go want to do look more like? You've got to be kidding me. I've been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that?

Withdraw the offer and we get no compensation. Good decision there.

The way that a lot of Coventry fans think though, that money would never be going to the club anyway, but instead into SISU's coffers for more court appearances.

So, it could be argued that withdrawing the offer would lead to SISU being hurt.

It is hard to understand the situation with George Thomas. You would think that with only two weeks to go before the season starts he would need to sign for a club to have any chance of getting into the team for the first game. Has he done his pre season training with us? if the reports of all of those clubs being interested in him were true, it is hard to understand why he has not signed for one of them. He comes across as a genuine player who wants to play football. It would seem therefore that he is following his agent's advice and that seems to be leaving him in limbo. Due to the fact that he missed the tour and has played no friendlies, if he re-signed now would he be ready for the Notts County game?

I bet it's his agent! He will end up like Misfud if he is not careful

Thomas is entitled to look after himself, the club likewise. He should be match fit in a few sessions having finished the season a month ago in Toulon.
Give the player some credit, he is weighing up his options and I suspect he is deliberating the game time with us v under 23 Squad at another club option.
Yes money will be a factor but so will furthering his prospects. He will have seen others go and spend their time going nowhere and won't want that for himself.
yes sometimes you have to back yourself and take a gamble but also he may see a clearer route to his end goal is possible staying here.

He needs to fuck off now if I was Robins I would say to him..."I want players who are 100% commited to playing for this football club, you have had a few decent games for the team and now you think youre fucking messi, you had your chance to re sign now I am looking elsewhere for a more than adequate replacement, hurry up and get your ' dream move and good luck in your career " .... or maybe thats already been said to him

You started off angry with him and then went gentle at the end ....'F*** off, and good luck' - George will be unsure if he was loved or not - poor lad!

He has won a lot of people over but now he is losing them by his inability to decide what hes going to do ...I will remember him starting last pre season looking shite then coming back and turning it around scoring an incredible goal at Wembley good luck to the lad if he stays the love may be slightly tainted but recoverable if he leaves...thanks for the memory !

"Remember pre-season he looked shite"... he still looked shit in January!

Granted after Wembley he looked decent, but 4 league goals is awful I say we push him and accept leicesters offer

He never looked shit, just mostly the usual Cov fans not able to identify a quality player just because he wasn't scoring regularly at the time.

I like Thomas, and would like him to stay. But to be honest, he's had more than enough time to make a decision. He knew his contract was coming to an end, and relegation was on the cards long before MR turned up, so that was hardly a surprise.
Him being still here is becoming a distraction, he's not playing pre season games, and won't be ready for the start of the season.
I would accept any decent offer that was on the table (presuming we've had one) and allow the gaffer to recruit another striker/ winger.

I think he is faced with a harder decision than that, its likely to be stay at ccfc, or sign for someone else and be loaned out to a league two club

I agree, our fans somehow struggle to recognise a quality player... Jacob Murphy being one, but George Thomas ran around a lot, he picked out the wrong passes regularly and missed easy chances, he did it against Peterborough... granted he scored one but could have had 3/4

He's in there same school as Jim O'Brien he ran around a lot but generally flattered to deceive

I think it's fair to say whether we rate him or not, we would take 500k in a heartbeat if it meant a new 20 goal striker.

Don't know why so many people are getting their knickers in a twist about Thomas.

Just presume he isn't going to be here in a couple of weeks. If for some reason he is, then great, he has to fight for his place like the others.
