For the lads career, I think he'd be making a big mistake moving back to under 23 football just for a bit of money.

He will go out on loan, he wont sit in the under 23's.

Play on loan in League One and have a lot more in the bank v play in league two and have less in the bank.....

deal noel

Only a quality player scores a goal like he did at Wembley, scored in semi final and final, put in the effort every game, looked at ease as a newcomer once established.
I am glad he was one of ours and I know it's about opinions but I think I trust premier league scouts more than I do some on here. For some of you his level is league one, Jacob Murphy and 12million anyone? You couldn't spot a dick growing on your nose!
George Thomas has the tools to succeed, I wish it was with us but if not the guy can leave with his head held high, which is more than many can say in leaving us.

Very much agree with this, apart from the first sentence; anyone can hit a worldy once in a while, it's consistency that makes a player great.

Good piece of business for Leicester, Thomas is the ready made replacement for Riyad Mahrez (not)

Yes even Marcus Tudgay managed to have a decent game now and then!
Look in the mirror, have you spotted it yet? George Thomas is being bought by the 2016 English champions and still he is not good enough?
The potential of the player is head and shoulders above anything we had for a generation including Madison and loanees Murphy and Armstrong.

Spot on with the 1st bit. Still think Armstrong will come good and be a player

Take a deep breath mate. Never said he wasn't good enough, but you have to consider what level we are at. 500k for someone who didn't even have half a good season in league 1 is more than fair. I'm not too fussed whether he goes or stays to be honest.

not saying I agree with the statement, but when was the last time a club as big as Leicester, (who were prem champions just over 12 months) signed one of our players , clearly he's rated

George Thomas is the player from our academy who has a path from the first team here and has a chance to succeed at the top level.
In my opinion he has earned that chance like Lookman did at Everton and Ali did at Spurs. It will be up to him to take it.
He will have internationals and champions ahead of him rather than the journeymen and failed pros here.
When he came in back into the first team he was already much better than the West Brom and Burnley loaness and put in a shift even when it was not his day, he didn't hide in a dire team. Yes I rate him.

O xlade chamberlain, Walcott ten years or so ago went for 25!million plus between them from lower division Southampton, James Vardy was dirt cheap, who is the England regular?
I haven't anywhere said he is a Vardy or a Ali but I do believe he has earned the right to push on.
There doesn't have to a division amongst us in wishing one of our own well and recognizing he is seen as worth taking a punt on.

To extend your logic it doesn't matter if we lose every game because we're not in the top flight

You've decided to extend my logic, not me. I care about my club so losing every game would hurt me regardless of the league.

Thomas is bang average. Simple as that so let him go.

Cheers for the Wembley goal though!

Granted, we are unlikely to have a Hadji, Keane, Dublin turning out for us in the near future.; however, if you keep selling any potential coming through (especially at an early stage), you are going to struggle to progress. I suspect had Murphy been our player, you may have said 2 seasons ago that you wouldn't be crying at us letting him go for 500k. 2 seasons later, it doesn't look such a good deal - players we are calling 'mediocre' now could be woth a goldmine - Ponticelli, for example. That's why sell on clauses are so vital to clubs in our current position.

You can unearth gems whilst in League 2 but no club will keep them long. MR task like other league 2 managers is to get a good TEAM that work hard, gel together and grind results out. If you've got a bit of magic in the team then great.

which, of course, is why the 2016 English Champions are looking to buy him.
If this is how we view a player who works his socks off for the team, contributed much much more than most then he is better off elsewhere, where he will be appreciated.

Excuse me grumpy pants. I didn't say I didn't like him, I didn't say he doesn't work hard when he's wearing the shirt. I just think everyone crying over him leaving is a massive over reaction.

English champions want him he's hardly going straight into the first 11 is he you plonk

You plonk? Are you eleven Gint11?
If you are eleven, then when you learn to read you will see that I have not said anywhere he is going to make it.
Get your friends to tell you that I have said he deserves the chance to fulfil his potential.
There will be no tears over any player leaving(since Dennis Mortimer in 75 at least-ask your grandad)

I have no idea if he'll make it or not. I can also see why we didn't offer him a new contract earlier.

But... it works both ways, and I can fully understand why he's taking his time to make sure whatever he does next is right for him!

That being said, not a bad advert for joining City's academy at a young age, when we can point to Bigi, Conor Thomas, Wilson, George Thomas all getting chances with top flight clubs (with Maddison meriting an honourable mention in despatches). Whether they succeed or not is almost irrelevant for our purposes of showing join us, we'll get you your chance to make it.

Anyway, hope George does make it, as he seems to have his head screwed on.

If and when he goes good luck to him, must be nice to feel wanted because at the start of the season he was probably despised by many because of his rubbish showings, however, fair play to the lad he came back and turned it around and probably surprised most fans me included, I shall never forget 'that goal' !!
If he can get 5k a week that is more than a head turner, he is probably on around £500 a week here maybe more who knows so at 20 grand a month its a no brainer and again well done to him for engineering a possible move for more wonga, thanks for the memory George

Premier league scouts do get it wrong... remember Tope Odebayi.... remember john Bostock at palace. They've bought him on 2 month of a good season

For what it's worth I think he'd score goals in League 2, most of the games he looked good in were against league 2 opposition.

If he weren't out of contract Leicester wouldn't be interested. In a world where they've earned 100 million, 500k is worth it to bolster their U23 squad and win the U23 premier league trophy

That is a very good point. Way better than some of the dross we've seen come from Premier League under 23 teams. Still think it's too soon for him but maybe that is my heart ruling my head and just wanting him to stay.

Joe Cole picked him out as the most talented player at the club. Just wish we were in a position to hold onto him.
