Match Day Routine (1 Viewer)

With the new season upon us is there anything that you're looking forward to doing again. Do you follow the same routine every match? Are there any superstitions you have to follow?

Leave home at 9
Cov by half 10-11 for breakfast
Pub near the Ricoh for half 12
Leave the pub at half 2
Celebratory (or otherwise) pint at full time
Home by 8

I have to wear my cov top all day on match day, for a saturday I just put it on but if it's a midweek match I have to wear it under my work clothes.

No intentional routine but most games the same thing happens :)

Pick people up
Drive up
Park up
Have a cuppa at the ground (designated driver responsibilities!), or just a water in warmer months / weathers (don't have many of them)
Quick visit to the FZ to see the volunteers, most of which I know to say hi to
Head to our seats about 2.45pm!
Say 'hi' to other ST's holders near by!
Review the last away game (last season it was a lot of 'how poor were we last week' :))
Game kicks off!
We pick up x points
Back to the car saying 'that was good / shite'

:)

You have missed a key point in between game kicks off and we pick up x points:-

Update SBT with key moments from the game

This year will be strange. My games generally kick off at 14:15/14:30, so I'll be back in the club house to watch all the scores come in for the last half an hour whilst my glory supporting team mates rip into me as we concede our fourth goal against Accrington...

Yep-that will be us this season when Cov are at the Ricoh. Officiate our game and then to the club house to watch the inevitable last minute equaliser go in our net on Sky soccer Saturday. Then drive home listening to how garbage we were on the phone in.

Well I haven't had a whisky for well over two months, I gave up just after season end as every Saturday night I seemed to rely on a couple of whiskies to try and lift the mood after yet another defeat.
So I cant wait for it to start again so I can get rat arsed again on whisky Saturday nights after we have lost 3-0 at home to the likes of Morecombe etc
Bring it on my liver awaits a good weekly hammering

I don't have any routines, but the last three times I wore the exact same shirt under any of my City shirts and watched uu, we've won so I may go with it on Saturday too.

Bit different this year as my old fella has passed away so not going at the moment.
Phone call at 10 am "what time are you picking me up?"
"12.40 as every week dad"
"Ok I might be doing a bit of shopping down cheylesmore so wait for me if I'm late"
Pick him up have a few pints in the Haven pub then a few in the Burnt post then the Mrs drives us to the Ricoh.
Couple of pints in Legends lounge and a good natter with everyone and get picked up at 5.40, drop him home a hug and "see you tomorrow dad " then get dropped off at the post for a few more then collected to get a Chinese on way home for the Mrs and little one.
Bed followed by a hangover then Sunday lunch scoops before lunch.
It's a good day out regardless but last season was dire all the way thro sadly.
Maybe a decent upturn in results will see me back again. Saturday will be an emotional one but will be stuck to the radio.

Get up 9 ish have breakfast sausage & tomato batches pick mates up at 12:45 then drive to the gas club go in and greet all of our mates loads of banter taking the piss, couple of beers good conversation then leave to go to the ground 2:25 just a 5 minute walk to the ground. Watch the stewards searching old age pensioners but leaving the young capable men to go in without searching. Watch the match and listening to the usual moaning twats around me! Feels like we have never had a break from it. Hopefully have something to smile about to which we go back in the Gas club for a swift celebration drink or if we have played shit and lost go home and fucking moan at the misses

It is devastating when you lose your Dad who you went to every home game with. After he went it took years to get back into it, my dad died whilst we were still at Highfield Road and I did stop going for quite some time but the move to the Ricoh sort of gave me a fresh start and I could move on.
Hope you can get to a few games and start to enjoy it again later in the season, he will be still be there in spirit.

Meet at the Greyhound for whatever the guest ales are, walk to the ground, listen to shouts of 'get it forward' followed by a comment about losing possession, check scores to see my bets are all losing and comment on here at HT, walk back to the car depressed at 5.

One of the highlights of H1 of the TM season was the break from the above routine due to the excitement, be it getting to the ground early in anticipation and sneaking an extra UBU/Gold, nipping for one at HT or having a celebratory one after the match.

I hope I experience the same break from routine this season.

Hey life goes on I know some times it's just waiting for the dust to settle. Go weeks without a tear and then something like this brings it all back.
The amount of times I told him to wrap his 4 ft scarf around his neck twice as he walked treading on it as he marched ahead lol! Happy days and the first game always was sunny 3 points and optimism !

I go in after the game. You'll be pleased to know they have sorted out that bad drain smell now.

Gym in the morning for a cheeky hour and then home to watch soccer am and usually the start of the midday game on sky.

Drive up and park in holbrooks and do the walk of death up the A444. Have a coffee and sandwich in Starbucks at the Ricoh and wait for the teams to get announced and discuss tactics with my mate for the day's game.

Walk up and in by 2.55pm and then be fucked off like every one else come 5pm. Always leaving so dejected. It's like even when I just go to next at the Ricoh I go away feeling like we have just been beaten such is the classical conditioning of that place.

Then home by 5.30pm (although I have moved house now to rugby) then watch the tea time game and an early night usually. Not much to celebrate.
