In the pub recently a group of us went through from A -Z of rock bands and we listed what we thought would be the best line up for a concert.
This is mine : ACDC - Black Sabbath - Cream - Deep Purple - Emerson Lake and Palmer - Free - Genesis - Hawkwind - Iron Maiden - Judas Priest - Kiss - Led Zeppelin - Motorhead - Nazareth - Oasis - Pink Floyd
Queen - Rush - Saxon - T.Rex - U2 - Van Halen - Whitesnake - X Ray Spex -Yes - ZZ Top. This is a list of rock bands but any more suggestions not just rock groups ? I know who Otis will have for X !

Not so sure. Wouldn't want to put all my X in the one basket.

That can be my nomination for O as well
The Only ones, or should tha be for T? B-)
Yeah, I was going to do that, but then makes it really difficult for T.

Will have a go, but it's quite hard with the definition 'rock band.'

Alice Cooper, Beatles, Clash, Dandy Warhols, Echo and the Bunnymen, Foo Fighters, Garbage, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Iggy Pop, The Jam, The Kinks, The Libertines, Muse, New Order, Oasis, Pink Floyd, Queens of the Stone Age, Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Tubes, Undertones, The Vaccines, Wilco, XTC, Yardbirds, The Zutons

Good choices there Otis. In the pub I said can you have bands starting with The ? As in The Who ? To make it harder we decided no. That's why its tricky getting a list !

I too was going to put Kraftwerk, but then didn't think I could class them as a rock band.

Would have done and would have then also chosen Devo for D.

This is SBT, Otis. We can break the rules if we want to.

I've been fortunate enough to see a fair chunk of the artists in those 2 line ups and quite a few in Torchys as well.

The Eagles and The Darkness both great bands, but start with The.

Right, BBR, think you can manage the same A to Z, but this time solo artists only? No bands. Has to be someone who has done solo work or who is known as a solo artist anyway.

Need to stipulate surnames only for the list, so David Bowie would have to go under B, not D.

Good idea. When I finish work and get back home I'll compile a list. X will be tricky though ?

Great list that, Craig. I so very nearly went for Eels and also for Radiohead too and indeed, Terrorvision.

Forgot all about Weezer. Shouldn't have really, because I have three of their albums.

A - Z of solo artists. I Q and X I couldn't get any.
A - Joan Armatrading. B - David Bowie. C - Eric Clapton.
D - Bob Dylan. E - Keith Emerson. F - Marianne Faithfull
G - Eddy Grant. H - Jimi Hendrix. J - Janis Joplin. K - Lenny Kravitz. L - John Lennon. M - Moby. N - Ted Nugent. O - Roy Orbison. P - Iggy Pop. R - Bonnie Raitt.
S - Paul Simon. T - James Taylor. U - Usher. V- Vivaldi.
W - Tom Waits. Y - Neil Young. Z - Frank Zappa.
I like The Four Seasons by Vivaldi even though he's not done any pop for a while ! And I chose Usher to fill the U in as I don't like his music. That was harder than bands !
