That's rubbish though isn't it? I get what you're saying but we signed a player from Norwich, championship level. Although they terminated his contract, I'm sure he could've done a job in L1, but he chose us.

And paying as little wage as possible...isn't that what all clubs should be doing? 'Not' doing that in the 90's set us on our path South.

Any player here especially youngsters with real promise will be vulnerable to be "nicked" by the bigger fish, we are a FOURTH division club who also pay is little wage as possible apparently. Unfortunately those "bigger" fish include the likes of Fleetwood, Burton Albion Bury etc

None of those clubs, those or with similar 'prestige' have signed any of our promising players...

Our issues for me were a lack of creation in Midfield on Saturday. The strikers can't do a lot without the ball as a rule !

no1 give 2 shits about danny newton if we had made it 3 wins from 3 on saturday

I doubt many are fussed about Danny Newton, but some maybe interested to see how a player stepping up form national league north adapts to life in L2 as a professional footballer.

The two French clubs he played for look tiny clubs.

Hardly fair to judge him on leagues we know nothing about,
And Hinckley, Leamington and Brackley aren't exactly the best teams in England.
Hell Kevin Malaga looked like Vincent Kompany against Hinckley.

To ne honest when Biamou has a touch of the Malagas - early days but he looks out of it.

Again I think that's hardly fair, we are 3 games into the season, and he has started one which was against a team that was playing in the championship last year, think he needs to be given some time before he's simply written off as crap.

He will clearly get time but people will make observations on what they see. He hasn't hit the ground exactly running and doesn't look like a target man. His ariel ability looks questionable to say the least.

I'm not sure what he is but I am pretty sure he won't be the answer going on the bits I have seen.

I've a background in scouting in football and if I'd have been sent to watch the lad in question my report back wouldn't of been favourable. Comes short when he needs to stretch the pitch, doesn't seem strong when under pressure and loses the ball easily and for a striker simply doesn't look a threat at all.

It's very early and I expect he has something to offer but he is miles away from first team level and it would be expected he drops out the matchday squad shortly to develop in the u23's.

Don't ask me about Stevenson who's career appears to have stalled and is in danger of nose diving if Saturdays cameo is anything to go by. The confidence is shot and in almost every touch was sidewards afraid of risking a killer ball that was needed. Afraid of the crowd more than opponents. Not sure what his main strengths are?

Waste of a sub on Saturday.

I have done a bit of scouting myself, gave it up mind you due to other commitments.
I haven't seen enough of him to judge tbh, and I don't think it's fair to judge on the appearances he has been given, and will wait for more opportunity to see him.
Would also point out, you may have a background in scouting, but I'm pretty sure Mark Robins knows what a good striker looks like, and I think TW has enough experience scouting as well.

I also disagree on Stevenson, while he perhaps wasn't as good as some games last year, he along with Andreau, pushed the team up the field about 15 yards, and recycled the ball well, yes he didn't shoot perhaps when he could have like last year (although it could be argued this is actually a sign of greater maturity as it is likely it wouldn't have troubled the keeper) he didn't try any killer passes but he didn't have a lot of movement in front of him, and most of the time he had 10 Newport players in front of him.
His tackling was good when they attempted to break, and he played better than Kelly had in that first half.

Hummmm strange how we all see the game differently isn't it? Guess that's why everyone has an opinion on the game!

Regarding Stevenson can't agree with you. We looked for players that would drive into a gap with the ball and have the confidence to make a mistake but continue to make things happen. Stevenson doesn't/didn't. Saturday was safe, safe safe.... I don't see a player that won't play higher than league 1 (i hope I'm wrong!!!)

Don't think Stevenson was ever a player to drive the team up the pitch with a run on the ball? Not when I saw him anyway, he hasn't been as risky with his passing I would agree, but in terms of Saturday, the Newport half was so crowded with bodies, the only way in my opinion that an opening was going to come was going down the sides, and Stevenson recycled the play well in that sense, and up until he came on, we were penned back to the half way line or deeper. However as I said Andreau obviously helped to push the team up as well

Stevenson has never been somebody who carries the ball. I can see why you're no longer scouting
