Biamou looked better than he has previously, he won most headers and had a decent touch when he got the ball.

Said it in the match thread but when we attacked he was dragging players out of position to open up space for Jones and Vincenti. At one point when Vincenti overlapped Biamou ran away from their goal and took 2 players and then made a run back in.

He didn't look as lightweight either.

Didnt see the 'advantage' signal from the ref, he looked at it for ages I don't think he knew what was going on tbh.

That's what confused me, the ref was looking right at it which is why I assumed he was playing on.

It was much worse than his yellow on Saturday which I didn't think was even a foul.

Burge - 7 - did well, good save, kicking much improved
Grimmer - 7 - looks good going forward
Stokes - 5 - Mmm.....poor. Passing is dreadful and he's so sssslllllooooowwwwww.
Willis - 6- OK, rather have McDonald
Davies - 8 - Great game and deserved MotM. Commanding.
Doyle - 7.5 - Good game from the Captain
Kelly - 7 - Great pass for the goal, but much better overall too.
Vincente - 7 - Improving, if a little slow.
Jones - 8 - Grew into the game and looked dangerous. Wish he would pass more often though rather than trying to shoot himself all the time.
Nazon - 6.5 - Good run for the goal but looked tired.
Beavon - 6 - Works hard with little reward

Biambou - 6.5 - Best game so far, put himself about a bit more

Burge 7.5 looks solid this year, yet more fine saves
Grimmer 7.5 excellent last night and a great threat down the wing
Willis 7 won his battles and vocal in claiming balls in the air
Davis 8 didn't put a foot wrong, great addition to the side
Stokes 7 a better evening for him, more solid than of late.
Doyle 7 comfortable, steady and tenacious
Kelly 7 showed a good rage of passing while was bust and effective in midfield
Vincenti 6.5 hot and cold is Pete, a better performance and goal too
Nazon 6.5 took his goal well and made a good run. About all he did in truth for me.
JJ 7 could of been a 9 if he had two feet and could finish at times. Exciting talent
Beavon 6.5 a few chances with one he should of buried, tho was unselfish at times playing team mates in. Better in the second half when players moved around his to pick a pass.

Biamou 6 looks like he's stepping up and adapting to L2. Offered plenty and was a thorn in the space of time he was involved
DeKE 5 not much time to judge

He actually pulled out of the challenge. Was half-waiting for the second yellow but it would have been the wrong decision.
He definitely doesn't pull out of the challenge, it was just so late he never actually catches him. The Carlisle player plays the ball forward, sees Vincenti coming, jumps it then lands on top of Vincenti and goes over. Could easily have got a 2nd yellow and walked for the pure recklessness.

Burge 7 - His save first half was a good one and his kicking much improved.
Grimmer 8 - Got forward well and did brilliantly running the length of the pitch for Beavon's chance. Would really help JJ if he runs beyond him sometimes.
Stokes 6 - Woeful passing first half but looked solid defensively.
Davies 8 - Looked really assured. Will be harsh if he's dropped for Rod at the weekend.
Willis 6.5 - I thought he played individually well but as last year's captain he has to be the one that takes responsbility to drag the defence higher up the pitch instead of Robins doing it at half time.
Kelly 7.5 - Great assist. Should have tested the keeper 2nd half when he shanked a shot from the edge of the box. He is the difference 2nd half atm when he gets higher up the pitch.
Doyle 7 - His usual annoying piss-weasel self.
Jones 8 - Lovely assist and willing running all game - our only real outlet. Thought about marking him down for the awful dive after 2 minutes and some wasted shots in the 2nd half when he could have passed but overall glad he has the confidence to shoot.
Beavon 7 - Covered the whole width of the pitch first half while Duck stood about blowing out of his arse after his first 10 minute burst.
Nazon 6 - Absolutely static after the first 10 minutes when I thought he was going to have a stormer. Robins called him out on it after the game too. Good run and finish for the goal though and overall looked much better centrally.
Vincenti 7 - Being played out of position and in a formation that doesn't suit him. Hasn't deserved his criticism and glad he's starting to adjust. Lovely pass to Kelly for the 1st goal and the best worst finish ever for his goal. Marked him down for his reckless slide tackle when on a yellow and still 1-0.

Biamou 6.5 - Another one that is improving, was gutted when he ballooned his volley over as I was desperate for him to score. Worked harder than before, won headers, made himself available and involved in a couple of goood moves. Thought his off the ball running needs more work though.

Robins - 8 - he's starting to come to terms with this league now and slowly making the necessary tweaks to the team.

Burge 8 - thought he made two outstanding stops, really liking this option for where we're at now.
Grimmer 8 - Excellent throughout, plenty of space his side, but forward runs were good too.
Willis 7 - looked solid, did what he needed to do.
Davis 8 - won everything in the air and used the ball well most of the time. Looks composed, worry is sometimes too comfortable.
Stokes 6 - I like Stokes and defensively sound, but whilst nothing horrific, distribution was poor and not one of his better games.
Doyle 7 - does it what sys on the tin. Uncomplicated, but lucky not to have been booked.
Kelly 6 - tidy passing, kept busy, 1 dreadful attempt on goal, but I do wonder what he is doing sometimes.
Vincenti 5 - would have been a 4 but for putting the ball in the net. I was actually wondering what the point of him was before then.
Nazon 6 - good finish and looked sharper after the goal until injured. I think there is a player in there but need some consistency.
Jones 8 - tireless running, defenders couldn't handle him even when doubled up. Deserved a goal albeit a little greedy when better options
Beavon 4 - runs around like a headless chicken, never a threat, a couple of awful shots that looked like pass backs. Tries but so ineffective.

Biamou 6 - tidy feet and showed a few touches of class. Chased the ball and pressured defenders too.
DKE - not enough time to judge fairly.

So biamou gets 6 for chasing and pressuring but beavon does this too along with several good passes and gets 4? Vincenti did far more than nazon all game and gets 5?

Biamou looked more of a threat (imo) and I also said "touches of class" (one little flick on the far side was awesome) I never think Beavon will score when the ball is at his feet. Vincenti imo was poor. Next time I'll pm you to see if yo're ok with it before I post!

Biamou was a threat to the opposition defence . Beavon tried hard. but his legs are gone. 2 excellent chances - but powderpuff shots all game
Vincenti is a difficult one- he looks awkward, but i think that goes against people;s view of him. I think he is an asset to us, but will not get the plaudits. That said, Nazon to me always looked like he had a goal in him last night

Beavon had one great shot saved. Nazon had a good chance first half that he got knocked off easily. Beavon played much better alongside a proper target man

I agree. I think Beavon gets a bad press. He works tirelessly without getting many rewards. He's had some great chances in the last couple of games and I don't think it will be long before he gets the goal he deserves.

Legs are gone? Rubbish. Ran himself into the ground doing Nazon's running for him. It was Beavon that put Jones clean through when he hit that awful right footed shot wide. Beavon who found Jones down the right to cross for Vincenti's goal and who played the 1-2 in the box with Grimmer which was almost a goal and was involved in the excellent build up to the first goal. With Biamou, Vincenti and Beavon it's just confirmation bias for people's pre-formed opinions on players.

I accept we disagree on 2 of those 3 Esotercia, but that's an ill-judged assumption of opinions, certainly on my part. I posted as I saw it and honestly so no real threat from either Beavon or Vincenti, hence my ratings. Biamou looked much improved fwiw.

One thing I didn't add to my ratings however was just how much we rely on Jones (again imo). His pace stretches the game and creates much more space for everyone. Even if he's not firing, I think the way we were set up that without him we'd be fecked. Hopefully the opposition don't work that out early and start nobbling him even more.

Angle doesn't do it justice, I was further left of that and Vincenti definitely retracted his leg as he slid in. Good yard between him and the player.

On the Beavon pass out to Jones, it was terribly weighted. Could have played it along the ground 10 yards shorter and Jones is on his left and it most likely ends up a goal.

I don't give a fuck what any of you lot rate players at, as long as Robins keeps putting out a winning team that'll do for me.

Well that screenshot was taken from ifollow and is half a second after the ball has been played - his leg is still fully outstretched. He doesn't catch him only because of the evasive action taken by the player. It' was borderline for me but it's still clumsy/reckless to slide in that late 10 yards from the referee when you're already on a yellow - it could have been a game changer at 1-0.

As for Beavon's pass I thought he had to hit it with pace with the defender in the way but Jones' touch wasn't good enough with his right which took him away from goal and that narrowed the angle too much for his right foot.

Think Kelly needs shooting practice. His shots were weak and misdirected.

I just gave 4 examples where Beavon was directly involved in creating goalscoring chances. His link play is very tidy whenever we actually have a central midfield that bridge the massive hole in the middle. I don't know how you could watch the 2nd half yesterday and think he gave no real threat unless you chose not to see his involvement in those things, consciously or not.

we could go 3-5-2

Grimmer up the right
Jodi up the left
3 c backs
kelly and doyle protecting
Nazon and biamou up top
Vincenti in behind

stokes and beavon to the bench

Put Jones in there instead of Vincenti, also have Stokes at LWB, then maybe you have my vote on this. Never a fan of three CBs with wing backs, though.

I didn't really note his involvement no, but if you say he did fair enough. However were any at 0-0 when it counted and there wasn't so much space? In the first half when Grimmer went marauding down the right and laid off a lovely ball to him in space before he tamely sent it in the general direction of the goal, it was pathetic. I'm not basing the 90 minutes on that either, so often not making the intelligent runs or anticipating anything that might fall not to mention giving the ball away, I wouldn't call that tidy either. The offside looking along the line in a half hearted effort (and that was 2nd half too) was kids stuff.

So you did watch him enough to notice all the bad things he did but didn't note any of the good things he was involved in - which is exactly what I said in my first point about the confirmation bias :p.

Or perhaps you wanted to be so outraged at the bias, you only noted the good things ;-)

Either that or you are his dad and I claim my £5
