I'm not a very prolific poster but I enjoy reading all the letters on here. I have been watching City for 40 years and thought I would spend a bit of time with pen & paper jotting down my best games. Here they are gents

wasnt born for 87 but my favourite games would be

Wembley vs Oxford
Preston JPT
2-1 victory away at QPR when Kevin Kyle got a stoppage time winner in 2007. Missed the train home that night so blagged a dentist appointment to school the next morning.
5-4 victory over Bristol City at Northampton for pure entertainment

78 liverpool I remember well, these boys were scary and you lived in fear of what they could do to you, Ferguson saw to them though and I think 31k were there to see it and there weren't too many Liverpool

the 2-0 Man U is tainted due to their team that night
It was special for our following but thats it

Wes Brown, Jonny Evans, John O'Shea, Michael Carrick, Gerard Pique, Nani, Anderson etc.

I had been to Old Trafford 3 times to see us before that and not see us have a shot on target (unless you count Julian Darbys long range effort)

I don't know why but Spurs seem to have been involved in many classics against us, always in our favour

On the other hand you knew that games against Wimbledon, Palace would be diabolical

Nothing tainted about it, the team Manure put out were mainly internationals, even Dong (snigger) too, don't know what happened with Martin or Dong later on in their respective careers but for the rest, have been largely successful.

Man Utd: Kuszczak, Bardsley (Brown 45), Evans (Carrick 56), Pique, Simpson, Nani, Martin (Campbell 45), O'Shea, Eagles, Dong, Anderson.
Subs Not Used: Heaton, Eckersley.
So for me that night was indeed special as you say, but the result was even more satisfying.

Posted this before but hey ho, i was 11, behind the goal on the kop, Fergusons chip over clemence looked fantastic 30 yrds out sublime finish, as i remembered it! Saw it for the first time on tv aged about 35 talk about shattered memories, one of the best goals in one of the best games id ever seen turned out to be an average lob from about 12 yrds, still in one of the best games ive ever seen, that was THE Liverpool, and we beat them magnificently! Ish!
Lol, as i remembered it :)

how about these for the older men

Forest 2 CCFC 4 1989/1990
CCFC 4 Man City 2 1977/1978
That Man City game is my favourite game. We were simply irresistible that night. Top of the league, unbeaten Man City couldn't live with us.Fergie a hat trick and Wallace with the other.

They left out Van Der Sar, Evra, Ferdinand, Brown, Vidic, Giggs, Carrick, Scholes, Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney
Brown and Carrick were in the squad and came on, so not tainted at all.

Beating Spurs 4-3 in 1986 was a great game. I'll add beating Villa 4-2 away, Winning 2-1 away at Everton in 1988 and Blackburn away in the fa cup when Dele scored a great goal.

I know it was a scruffy match with some howlers but that PNE game came straight to mind. I watched it on telly and spilt my drink everywhere when Leon got the winner!

It was 3-2 not 2-1 but definitely one of the best games at the Ricoh

What about that game against Preston, first half anyway, when we won 4-1. We were 4 nil up at half time and absolutely tore them apart.

Pretty sure that was the game where we played a long ball and their defender had about a 10 yard start on Julian Joachim and Joachim completely burned him. Think that was Bjarni Gudjonsson's best ever game for us too.

The Gillingham game a couple of years back was very similar too, but I just remember us being absolutely sensational in that Preston first half. Really had everyone out of their seat.

Was that a midweek game during Black's time? If so I remember the west terrace being a great atmosphere and their keeper got really wound up he was challenging people about how much they earned.

In a similar vein I found the 1-0 win at HR against WBA that season really satisfying. We were struggling, as usual, and they were top of the league around christmas time and we won in the last minute with Johnnie Jackson's exquisite chip over the keeper.

My top four Sunderland cup 1963 West Ham League Cup 1981 Norwich 1978 and the Bristol relegation game that still pisses off all of Sunderland supporters to this day.

Haven't seen a lot of good in the decade or so that I have been following city tbh.

But one of my favourite memories weirdly is the 3-1 away victory against Stevenage in our first season in league one. It was really a nothing game.
But the atmosphere that day and the turnaround just one game of the few games I have actually really enjoyed.

Forgot to mention Wimbledon 0-2 Coventry City at Selhurst park. Peter N'dlovu at the double and 7-8000 Cov fans and many more in the home end.

Yep, was a midweek game and was under Black.

Don't think I have ever consistently applauded the team so much throughout a game. It was good move after good football. Fast flowing attacking football.

THE match against the Wolves beats everything in my opinion. Certainly knocks spots off the Kings Lynn debacle
Absolutely! The Midlands match of the Century is my all time 'moment in time' favourite game. Followed closely by Wembley '87. Trivia point, I played for Kings Lynn in season 82/83, and our captain was one Mick Wright, who scored the headed winner against City at Highfield Road. Mick played over 1,100 games for Lynn, was never booked and rarely injured. Played well beyond his 40th year in a good standard of football. I played in his 1,000th game, a 0-0 draw at Runcorn, who at that time were romping away with the Northern Premier League. They don't make 'em like that any more.
