January transfer window (1 Viewer)

It would all be dependent on injuries. As it stands, I’d probably look to maybe ‘replace’ Andreu.

Even young players, like DKE, have come in and done well. So I do believe we have one of the most well rounded squads in the league, if not the most well rounded.
He's done a good job robins building the squad

Yeah I agree, and also pleasantly surprised with the type of players we signed. Almost all of them of perfect age, where they have experience but also room to develop and aren’t past it.

Yes, you can tell that Robins has gone for experienced pros who have had past success in this division. I think there’s a lot of balance in there, we don’t concede a lot, and we’ve hit a bit of goal scoring form too.

If we're up there, I don't think we will.

The club's obviously been told to break even, and their rejecting bids last January for players due to trophy windfalls meant they could. If we're up there come January, I'd reckon they'd think there's more cash to be got hanging on to him for a promotion, big crowds, and good feeling = bigger season ticket sales the season after (assuming we have a ground to sell them for, of course!)

Depends on “up there”, we’ve been burned by first half of the season optimism before. If he keeps playing how he has been there’ll be bids from the leagues above, and it might go out of our hands.

Of course if he goes off the boil or we are ten points clear at the top I reserve the right to completely change my mind.

Three concerns for January. What will happen with Duke? Will we look for a solution for Tony Andrews, either loan or permanent? Will we resist any offers for Jody as it seems almost inevitable that there will be?

There's been no comment from you either on anything else. Coop did a good job of getting you and MarcusP posting again.

By the way, Fisher did an article in the last home programme that was posted on here and the club website on Monday.
Your immediate veiled defence of toxic Tim won't go unnoticed, however where we plan to play next season is largest threat to us and our future than any selling of a players in the January window, as said not an incline from our illustrious chairman

There was no defence of anybody, I just pointed out he had written an article in the last week. Just using facts.

Your absence until you appear posting incorrect facts is even more noticed.

Wow, we've allowed ourselves an awful long time for complete speculation here.

Pick this up in December maybe?

We're benefitting from early recruitment and MR having most of the squad in place for pre-season. If we can avoid disrupting the team by too much change & obviously injuries will be a big factor on whether we need to trade in January. Fingers crossed that we only need to add the odd player in a key position.

We'll inevitably need fresh blood. I'd agree with the above and be cautious with the amount of players that are bought in but I'd say that we at least need 3 more to bolster the squad. A new ST, CAM and CM are most crucial in my eyes. Losing Andreu is a big loss for me as I thought he started the season brightly. He needs replacing because although I'm a fan of both players, neither Beavon or Kelly-Evans are creative enough to excel in this role.

Did we sell our players last Jan? Or did we turn down bids for Haynes, Willis and Stephenson? Sure, if a multi-million pound bid comes in for anyone they will go, but that isn't SISU or Fisher dictating that, that's footballing reality for a Division Four club. And no, I'm not pro SISU before anyone starts with that shite.

What is interesting is that out of those 3, only 1 is currently playing and that is in an area we are strong in
Added on to that is we only have one loanee - and it shows how MR has developed the squad

The biggest issue is extending Nazon's loan or finding an adequate replacement after his loan ends on 1st Jan.

Well we did still exchange our top goalscorer for a nonscorer which a lot of people seem to forget:) Although I do agree with your point - doesn't seem any pressure to sell if we're break even.

I've been thinking all day what parents in their right mind would call their new born Duckens. Were they on crack cocaine at the maternity hospital in Haiti.
He must be the only Duckens in the whole wide world. As a Kevin I know how he feels as I'm pretty sure I'm the only Kevin on earth

The Jan window is vital. if we are riding high in the promotion chase lets hope we get to keep the squad together and add a couple of quality players to step in when the inevitable loss of form or injuries hit some of the squad.

No one wants a repeat of the last time we were in with a shout under Mowbray when we bought in Hunt, Ramage and Henderson in the window.

We let our top scorer go. And the season before we sold Madders. And the season before that IIRC we let our top scorer go. Possibly the season before that as well. Going all the way back to Juke in the Championship.

Let’s not pretend it’s unprecedented.

Not unprecedented but we have got better in recent seasons.
Last season rejected bids for Willis, Stevenson, Haynes and possibly Ruben(?)Same this summer.
Okay year before we sold madders, but he stayed on loan? Plus multi-million £ bid is pretty much irresistible at this level?
Callum Wilson we drove up the price for and got a decent amount of money for where we are.
We have got better. Yes you are right it isn’t beyond doubt that he might go. But I do seriously doubt he will be sold, and if By chance he is, think we will get good money for him.

the January window is crap unless you have money to burn. Those players Mowbray signed were crap but not bad gambles amongst the dross available.

Maybe they intended to name him Dickens but couldn't spell?

Let's hit a run of form and pick up some very impressive victories, despite having a number of first choice players out, but ignore that and create a unsubstantiated worry just to get cheap Anti SISU likes. Pathetic.

If we are in with a squeak come January we will find that a Better class of player may want to come and join us.

Not a fan of the CET asking duck if he's going to stay for the full season and his reply, if we are top two it will be hard to not stay? Firstly we're only approaching October and he's scored what, 4 goals? Secondly does that come across as a bit of a, I'm doing you a favour by considering staying attitude? I'm all in favour of him scoring, playing well and staying for the season but to start asking that question now is ridiculous.

Brace yourselves for bids for Rod Mcdonald. He's been too good for league two in his 8 games so far.
Excellent attitude, 100% given each week and never lets the team down.
Signing of the summer.

People keep bringing this up! Where were the bids for the 3 of them in January? All hearsay from the press pure and simple. See what I did there.....

Didn't other managers comment on a couple of them?

Seem to remember the Telegraph on about Haynes to Wolves, Willis to Rotherham and Stevenson to Brentford etc. Bit like Collins coming to Cov "as the Telegraph understands". Wasn't it reported in the Birmingham mail about Haynes I think? Coincidentally also part of the trinity mirror group.

Yeah the Willis bid was confirmed by the Rotherham.
And the Brentford bid for Stevenson was definelty reported by someone with links to the club. However they only confirmed the first 2 offers I think. They never came out and talked about the third (1.5million one)

Can't see it. He's not really the quickest. I'm surprised how poor the league is to the league above.
