Does he dislike us?

He was saying on TalkSport this morning that he would manage England, Liverpool and Newcastle for free, but when asked about Cov was a definite and immediate "no" and then laughter from him and co-presenter.

If so, what's his beef with us? He was idolised by fans during his spell here and I would therefore hope holds some affection - the hat-trick against Arsenal and the boxing day brace v Villa are still some of my favourite memories, but did I miss a bitter falling out when he left or is it simply popular to dislike us?

He seemed bitter about his departure from the club. I heard him say some negative things about us for a while and like you couldn't work it out but then he said some comment about how he was treated at the end so clearly had an issue at that stage!

its not that he dislikes us! his emphatic no was because of the state the clubs in

He campaigned long and hard for Newcastle to recall Armstrong from us.
We're nothing really special to him, he's nothing really special to us.
We paid his wages for a while, he did a decent job for us for a decent part of that period. Then he moved on. Time we did too.

Looking at his entire career with us; could he be grouped with those players who were great on loan but went steadily downhill once signed full time?

His whole career was the same. In an era when players often stayed a long time at clubs he'd always start with a bang then leave after a couple of years. Goulds career was the same

Both difficult characters I would guess

Perhaps he thinks it is just a thankless task...and the studio titter is the old, Coventry is a joke club. After all we did sign a washed up overweight Scouse comedian as a forward..when he had the speed of a tram!

Hmm not sure where all this Quinn bashing has come about he was brilliant for us for a lot of his time maybe he was perfect fit with pace we had around him.....hell he even made Rosario look half decent!!! He had far more striking instinct and goalscoring ability than any of our squad at this moment in time calling him a poor mans Ponticelli is ludicrous!

Actually I will forever contend that Rosario made him look good rather than the other way round. How many Goals did Quinn score after Rosario left?

It didn't matter who played with him. All he needed was the ball to come to him. He didn't ever run down the pitch with someone else. But players bounced off him. And he was lethal in front of goal.

If he played for us now he would just be called lazy by many.

The point is that he was dreadful without Rosario to do the running and make space for him. By 1994 he was a lot fatter and pretty useless tbf

Fastest bloke in the premiership over 3 yards by a country mile! Knew where the net was. And in those days plenty of players from the big clubs never got a sniff when he got the ball.

He was a one trick pony and useless in his last 6 months at the club.

Most of his goals were in the first six months if not the first 10 games. He scored about 8 in his second season.

3 of which were in the first game I think

That season and a half for us was absolutely fantastic. He scored so many goals and was great fun to watch. I loved him. When I was 18, 4 years after he left, he used to come into Somerfield where I worked on the cigarette kiosk, he used to buy his fags and always wore his Cov shell suit even 4 years on. He always had 40 Regal King Size.
