    Match Thread Coventry v Rangers

A pal I work with who's a Rangers fan says we're better than Motherwell that they tonked the other day. Says everything about Scottish football really!

New Stadium - The pessimist's view...

OK yup clearly I did, I'd forgotten about the whole Higgs thing, and I'm not sure at all with the takeover/indemnity. It's clearly an even huger sorrier mess than I thought. Perhaps we need an Arab billionaire to just buy CCFC and Wasps and get rid of all the bad eggs in one go!!

New Stadium - The pessimist's view...

Fair point. I don't really blame Wasps per se, as far as I can tell they saw an opportunity from the council to get the stadium on the cheap, it's really the council who are as much to blame as SISU. Unless I'm missing some obvious dodgy dealings on Wasps side too...? Ultimately, there must be...

New Stadium - The pessimist's view...

Personally speaking, I was surprised to see (particularly on Facebook) such a positive reaction to the announcement. We've had this before on at least 2 occasions, that there are plans for a new stadium but they just never get any further than the drawing board. Call me a cynic, but it just...

    1-2-3-4 ...

We've been singing "we will never lose" for the past 50+ years. That's not worked out so well has it!

Match Thread Exeter City - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 13th Jan

Hands up who'd have taken a defeat last week and a win today. The cup is nothing if we don't get promoted this season.

Match Thread Coventry v Charlton Match Thread - Friday 14th Apr

On the live table we're not bottom any more. If we rind out this result can we ketchup with 20th place by the end of the season or are we still mincemeat?

    Coventry 1883

It would require ACL's full backing, but as it's in their interests I don't see why they wouldn't be prepared to give it, unless they still reckon that bringing a big Rugby Union side to the Ricoh would be an easier fix for their finances - IMO that would be a mistake, they'd never get more than...

    Coventry 1883

The idea is that this would be something to hopefully force Sisu to give up ever owning the Ricoh and either sell up or let CCFC fold. Playing at the Ricoh has to be part of the deal to ensure that fans immediately start supporting the new club and it would send the correct forceful message to...

    Coventry 1883

Stupot07, the alternative is a stagnant and divided club under amateur ownership going nowhere. I'm not suggesting Operation Premiership, but Operation League 2 would probably be a good plan...

    Coventry 1883

There was a similar thread kicking around on Friday. I'm all for a new club playing at the Ricoh so long as it had the backing of someone prepared to get it moving quickly up the leagues. That would put the ball firmly back in Sisu's court - more fans at the Ricoh for non-league than CCFC, and...

Could a new team be formed?

For those who aren't City fans asking why the club can still run after liquidation, it's basically because CCFC is made up of 2 separate companies and only 1 of them is being liquidated. It was basically done to enable Sisu to avoid paying debts to ACL but still keep control of the club.

Could a new team be formed?

It's true that the Arena charged extortionate rents for too long, something which they've belatedly tried to fix recently, but the real issue is that there is rent charged at all. The best and most successful football clubs are ones which own their own stadiums, make money from all activities...

Could a new team be formed?

ACL need to be the driving force behind creating AFC Coventry, with the intention of then selling the combined club and half share of the stadium to either a fans consortium or a decent business who we can trust, who can then buy the other half from the Higgs charity. Many blame the council...

Could a new team be formed?

Of course we're in a slightly unusual situation that the current football club is still alive, albeit on life support, the only reason for us abandoning them is that they are playing 35 miles away. Quite how Sisu intend to keep them going with very few fans rolling through 'home' turnstiles I...

Could a new team be formed?

I think it's a viable option. CCFC in it's current situation with very few home fans and almost no chance of success for the next few seasons is not really CCFC at all. ACL should take the lead in getting a new AFC Coventry formed to play at the Ricoh for the start of next season with the...

    No Bacon Batches

I remember my mum once asking for a batch in Portsmouth. I'm not sure who was more confused, the shop person not knowing what she meant, or mum wondering why they were confused. BTW has anyone told the boss it's not a "roll and bacon" south of the border?

    Falkirk fan - Pressley

Yup definitely (or should I say definately now I've been living in Glasgow for 3yrs?) Never found one in a chippy but I did have one at a nice restaurant last year. They are surprisingly nice!

    Match Thread vs Crewe

The scoreline makes it sound close, when it clearly wasn't, but hopefully that will put doubts into the Crewe players' minds and give us hope of a win on Saturday, which we all knew at the start of the night was clearly the more important game. Make the play-offs and no-one will give 2 hoots...

    Robins was not a mesiah

The stupid thing from Robins POV is that if he'd stayed until the summer and had a really good pop at getting us promoted then even if he'd then decided to move on he would probably have been much more of a messiah to us. All that goodwill is now gone and we and he will never know what might...
