Any plumbers? (1 Viewer)

Toilet wouldn't fill up, so got a new fill valve.

However, the connection from the water mains is like a pipe with a spinning nut on it so when the fill valve comes through I lift it up and do it up.

It keeps leaking from there, but when I try and do it up it just spins the fill valve rather than doing up.

Going to go and get some plumbing tape to try on the join, but any other ideas?

Sounds like you may have cross threaded the valve, did you put a fibre washer between the fitting and the valve?

Just took it off, there's not one in there :(

It's one of these.

Straight Tap Connector Chrome Plated 15mm x 1/2" - Toolstation

It doesn't have the washer though so will see if Tesco sell them :(

Went to Toolstation, don't sell packs of 1 so had to buy 100 :(

Put it back together and that joint was perfect with a washer and tape, however the one between the flush was leaking. Think it's sorted now.

Thanks for your help fellas.
