The Ricoh was built at a time the old regime could not afford it from day 1.

A bit like the land around Higgs Centre being freed up for next to nothing ? Would CCC open up a the green belt further so CCFC could locate there or wouild it more valuable for residential?

The market seems to think their bonds are OK, they're trading over 9% up on issue price.

Think it's fairly evident that a) sisu aren't going to spend any money on either a new stadium or academy and b) CCC would not do anything to help them even if the intention was there.

They'll only build if some other party finances the deal. When have SISU ever built anything, answer NEVER.

Does that include the first "dividend" that is accruing?

That doesn't make sense Oldfiver. You're implying that Wasps don't build anything and then go on to say that they are.

Lots of organisations get help with building projects so why are Wasps different............oh sorry I forgot, blind hatred

The difference is Wasps seem to be able to come up with a vision, are capable of sitting down with those that they need to and enter meaningful discussions on their own like grown ups, come to an agreement, arrange finances by whatever ever means and then deliver on that vision.

Forget when did SISU ever build something. When did they ever take the steps needed to get to the place when you can build something?

They haven't announced any sponsors yet and it was CSF that supported them, CCC are building a different project, though I agree it is implausible there's been no coordination between the 3 parties (and the Higgs charity too).

Are you referring to the swimming pool that also has rugby facilities ;)

By the time the whole thing is completed I wonder how much public money, from one source or another, will have gone into the project.

I emailed my local councillor to put my case against that (know it is pissing into the wind, but I felt obliged to do it), what did you do?

I emailed my councillor, who now seems to always hide behind commercially confidential. I've also emailed my MP and Sport England with queries about how they have reached their conclusion.
Although not sure what that really has to do with my comment, are you only allowed to post on here now if you've actively become involved in something?

    I asked

    When DID WASPs build anything

They have not built anything yet

Are you sure it is WASP's BUILDING the extension and swimming pool - how much are they putting in to it?

Hatred - not all - good luck to them. I just wish the Council were as liberal with their favours to local sports teams as they are to a London Franchise!

Might come from a land development scheme on green belt not too far from the Swimming Pool?

Ok Oldfiver, that's what you meant. I believe you despite your tone in past posts on here.

With regard to how much they are putting in, don't know and don't care (unlike some of the drama queens on here) but I'm sure if you ask Stupot he'll know.

On your last point, yet another naive poster who thinks that politicians should bend over backwards for us. When are people on here going to learn that a council is going to try and help a business (yes Oldfiver, that's a business) coming into a city which could potentially boost the city in different ways. Unfortunately, due to our owners obsession with everything BUT the football club, they have let this happen to us and they have burned that many bridges that they have backed themselves into such a stubborn corner that they do not want to get out of.

    I did not CCFC !!

As to WASPs apart from their corner at the Longford how are they bringing business to the remainder 99.5% of the City
That's a bit like Lucas's drivel about Chinese students bring prosperity to the City Centre

Wasps are flavour of the month, so I can see why they'd help them. As for the other 'sports teams'. I'm sure if you looked backed then you find that the council have helped local teams, say like stepping in to help finish stadiums and things like that, I can't be arsed to look at other sports but I bet if you looked back through history then you'd find other instances too.

As for your last bit, how does it go........

Read again: (is that right Oldfiver?)

I called them a business, I didn't say they'd be bringing business in, did I? But if they get young kids off their backsides playing sports (because I think we can all agree that they do more in the city than CCFC) and other people interested and sponsorship to the city and in general terms just putting Coventry more in the spotlight, then is that not a good thing for Coventry?

Foreign students are good for the city. Not only does it allow students to go the other way, but lecturers too. Coventry universities vision for the next 5 years is to double the size of the students to 80,000 and some of those will be foreign and that alone will bring in more jobs, housing, nightlife and other opportunities to the city because all of these students needs places to live, go and eat and the cities people will help build and serve the students. And then some of the students that come may settle here and work here and that too will benefit the city.

Yes, I've digressed but you put the comments in there.

What do Wasps do for the kids in the city that CCFC don't at the moment to get them off their arse?

Oh Jesus Nick, ok please tell us when the next JSB party is?

Ok, you asked. My mate (Millwall fan btw) took his lad to a Cov game. He went in, had a look round, watched the game, bought him a hot dog then he was shown to his seat, watched the game and left.

Then my mate took his lad to a Wasps game. He went in, had a look round, his lad went off to the big kidzone thing they were doing and spent an hour doing rugby related stuff and then enjoyed the game. He now wants to get off his arse and play rugby at school. I might be wrong but this may of happened to other kids too.

So Nick, please tell me can you see the difference? he didn't have to join anything to get into certain areas or things but was welcomed for just being there.

I was driving home whilst when the Godiva festival was on and saw a very young asian girl walking home with her parents with her arms full of Wasps stuff, not CCFC stuff. I don't remember CCFC doing anything there.

I know the club have the JSB's but are you really going to say that CCFC do as much as Wasps in the city at present?

That isn't in the city is it, you only mentioned matchday and the godiva festival. What about after school clubs, what about the disadvantaged kids etc?

Your mate could have took his lad to the JSB Family Zone before the city game couldn't he? Yes, it isn't as fancy but the kids still love going in there and meeting the players etc. (I think there is a new fan zone being planned also)

I just assumed you knew everything that both did, rather than that one of your mates took his lad before a Wasps game. It sounds like you have just heard from your mate about the 2 experiences.

A lot of WASPs school visits last year were undertaken by Coventry Rugby Club community lads.
Both CCFC and CRFC have sports camps during school breaks etc
    CCC simply hypes up WASPs

The foreign students frequent Primark and places like Wagamama ( however spelled) They pay no council tax nor do their land lords but get the same council facilities as those who have to

CCC's vision is Coventry will become a Birmingham overflow suburb and the City Shopping Centre will die as it is easier and cheaper to get on a train to New street than park in the barren centre.

Are you for fucking real man? You asked what they did in the city and I believe I gave you 2 instances in the CITY, jesus christ man. You answered someone earlier and took the piss about moving goalposts, I do believe there is another prime example. Only my observations but I believe you asked for them. Other people might have different views, but you asked me.

And the point I was making was that no-one came upto him when he went to Cov but was asked as soon as he went to Wasps, that's all. You asked for instances and I gave them to you, if you now want to carry on arguing then do it on your own.

I wasn't moving the goalposts, you gave an example of what they did on their matchdays.

I thought you were on about things they did throughout the city to get the kids of their arses, like the after school clubs, courses for kids who disadvantaged etc?

It is obvious that CCFC don't do anything at all, because your mate's kid wasn't asked.

    FFS man!

    Read again:

I said Coventry universities vision, not CCC. With regard to them spending money, I can't be arsed to say READ AGAIN but I did say that some settle here and work. Now, would they be contributing to the cities economy or not? just a simple yes or no will do rather than continuing to go round the houses

Ah OK, so you are basing them doing more in the city (in terms of the kids etc) simply on the stuff they do on matchday (not forgetting your mate didn't go to the JSB zone etc) and giving freebies away at Godiva?

And I think you'll find that you are actually moving goalposts. Just like Oldfiver, please read all of my posts because I gave 2 examples and only 1 was on match days.

Nice to see the childish bit at the end too Nick. Where did I say they did nothing? please show me and I'll take it all back. I even said about JSB's so that's me acknowledging that CCFC do stuff.

Yes, you will see I acknowledged the freebies at the Godiva as well..

You have said Wasps do more in the city for the kids, but give 2 examples of 1 being giving freebies out at Godiva and 2 your mates lad did something on a matchday.

It is so annoying people giving it all the shit about "Wasps do loads more or the kids" when they haven't really got a clue what's done.

Giving it all the shit, ha ha. You asked a question, I answered. I am not giving it all the shit about anything. In my experience recently, Wasps are doing more in the city than CCFC. I wish it were different because I am a CCFC fan and not Wasps. In reality it might be different but you asked me and I gave you an answer based on what I saw. You've not had the decency to answer my simple question so I think I'll leave it there Nick.

Which question do you want answering?

I meant the statement about how they are doing more.
