Tuesday 28th March saw the Checkatrade Trophy visit St Osburgs’s Catholic Primary School in Coventry alongside Coventry City FC Players Kyel Reid, Reice Charles-Cook, Jordan Turnbull, Match-winning Goal-scorer George Thomas, Dion Kelly-Evans and CCFC mascot Sky Blue Sam.

The players arrived at the school through a guard of honour with St Osburg’s pupils waving CCFC flags and singing CCFC songs. Headteacher Nicola Rynott organised a very special assembly for all the whole school where the players took part in a Q&A session with the children, before posing for photos and signing autographs.

Headteacher, Nicola Rynott, told us: “The children and staff were so excited to meet the players, Sky Blue Sam and to see the trophy itself ahead of the final. They welcomed the players with a deafening cheer and loved having the opportunity to wish them good luck and to ask them questions. The players gave inspirational advice to all our young footballers and they must have taken it on board as they beat another local school 6-0 in a match after school that same day!”.
