Cost of Sales (1 Viewer)

As we seem to be settling into a pattern of selling the cream of our youth team as they start to get into the first team, I'm interested in the costs to the club to generate the income.

If we assume we train the kids from 8 to 18 (random assumption) and we recoup £1.5m per year from sales, how much has each of these sales cost for training etc.

Does anyone know the annual cost of running the academy? If we assume one comes good per year the profit per player is £1.5m less the annual cost of the academy.

And secondly, is this sustainable do we think now that Rioch has gone?

We never had The Ricoh in the first place, infact, it's cheaper for us at The Ricoh now than it was a few years ago.

Isn't it about 600k or so for the academy ccfc puts in and then the grant pays around the same?
The transfer dealings have averaged £1.75M profit p.a. in the last 3 years. so it is well worth paying £600K for the academy as it contributes £1.15M to a £4.7M turnover.

The academy costs the club £600K a year. To work out if that is value you'd have to look at the average per year that comes in from academy graduate player sales and also put a value on the academy graduates in the first team - are they cheaper in terms of wages / fees than picking up a similar player developed elsewhere.

Some clubs have closed their academies as a result of the EPPP as they don't feel they are sustainable anymore.

have to factor in money saved by having youth graduates in 1st team squad.
no transfer fees, lower wages.etc.

So if that's correct, in reality there is little profit in these numbers. There's a profit for CCFC, but only because it's subsidised by the very clubs taking our assets.

Do we think that the stream of talent will dry up now Rioch has gone?

All transfers or just academy graduates?
True, all dealings but apart from Clarke have there been any other profitable contracts that were not generated by the academy in recent times?
You have to go back to Keogh I think, he left 4 years ago so there may be some bonuses in those figures, he made 200 games for Derby & got 15 Eire caps.

Yes, a bit of an over estimate from me.. forgot those deals, are there any others?

Huge time lag in operation here. If it takes 10 years from finding the players until they are sold, we will only see the full effect from 2023.

Maddison and Stevenson were here before Rioch came. They were both at the club as U8s, Gregor joined in 2007.

Cian joined as an U14 and was signed by current academy manager Richard Stevens.
