Ignore the idiot. I'm convinced the guy is a councillor. He is definitely not a fan - I've a sneaking suspicion it's that twat Maton.

Still there though aren't they. How many wouldn't be otherwise.

In fairness to Maton, I've actually seen him at a game.

    Your life must be hilarious.

"Can't find my keys, bet it's that twat Maton"

Literally everyone who disagrees with you is a secret councillor.

You know something is afoot when Rob S shows up. Like Glen after a defeat.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not opposed to the principle of it at all, but the evidence only proves that small English clubs can survive with this type of model. Whilst we're not exactly modern-day giants, we'd arguably be the biggest club on that list.

Its like the secret millionaire but at the end they take money and tell you your bins aren't getting emptied and the local library is getting closed. ;)

Portsmouth? Rangers? The point is that the only reason any of these clubs are around is because of fan ownership. Also no one is saying it needs to be 100% fan ownership. Swansea for example.

I did say arguably. Are we a bigger club than Portsmouth? I'd say so, but there's probably not a lot in it over the last 30-odd years if you average it out. Are we bigger than Rangers? Well, no, except this isn't the original Rangers so I'm not sure they count. But maybe they do. So I'm going to stick with arguably.

I'm not against the idea of fan ownership, I just don't know what it will achieve. The club isn't dead, and now that it is self-sufficient, it isn't in imminent danger of being killed. As with most things in life, it comes down to cold, hard cash, and I just wonder how a fan-based scheme can provide the millions a club like ours would need if we were to rise back to the top.

If it happens, I'll support it. If it is a realistic proposition, I'll support it. But the fact remains that no 'large' English club (i.e. top two divisions) is fan owned, so we have no idea if the scheme can survive and thrive that high up the pyramid.

Some people live in a paranoid fantasy world and worse still have forum specific Tourettes syndrome.

rangers aren't fan owned. They have board members who are fans but it's not quite the same thing.
    A bit like Middlesborough.

I think the Trust are obliged to explore ways and means and if not what are they good for?
However while it will serve to see what is plausible going forward I fear any outcome leading to some form of fan ownership is a mute subject for me.
I just can't see any major investment while there is fan ownership.
For success we will need a new investor medium to long term to take us forward.
The trust can play an initial part in that process but ultimately would have to move aside.

Agree with above, I do know the Trust have been looking for interested parties and approached people now if that has become fruitful I don't know and doubt if they do have an interested party will reveal that. It all has to start somewhere

I would like to find out more about a supporter based takeover. And if feasible would be happy to make a decent donation to the cause. I would be happy to have a share/certificate that I could pass on to my youngest lad to say we helped get our club back from the claws of SISU. And when someone comes along who can afford to run our club I would be happy for my share to have no value or any legal standing. But maybe it would give us the choice on who does take over our club.

    Hedge funds need not apply.

Read what it says, a supporter led takeover, that doesn't necessarily mean the Trust or similar taking over the club and running it there maybe interest in the back ground looking for a way in and supporters groups such as the Trust trying to create an avenue for them or maybe Cj ,ashbyjan, moss or steve850 have discovered Bill Gates is an uncle

Just had an email from the Trust with details of the meeting and oddly a picture of Fratton Park. Are part of the Trust plans to 'do a Wasps'?

Read what I says. I says I would be happy to. Didn't say it was the best way forward. But whatever happens I will back it in some way. Even if only in a small way of buying a Season ticket that I won't use.

I think most would if there was a solid plan.

I'd pay over the odds for things and donate if it was playing a part like that.

Pretty ironic coming from someone who used to use an ex council leaders identity on here so they could post using duplicate accounts.

Pompey fans put in £1000 each. 16k fans at the last home game. They are still watching a poor standard of football, and they may not go up, despite being a giant in League 2. I just don't think our fan based has the commitment or the patience to follow this model.

    Starting to agree.
    No fight left anymore.

The potential is here but our fan base is very split in views, as I understand it no two clubs are the same and each model would be set up to suit the individual team.
I think they use the Portsmouth situation to show what is possible, ok they may be playing poor Football and in lower leagues but at least they have a club and have a future.
Portsmouth have dreams we in our present state have nothing.

Maybe all that will come out of tonight is that this isn't a realistic possibility for CCFC. At least we'll know.

Credit where it's due for getting this put on, a good move IMO.
