Ben Haim has now gone so maybe their defence will be even weaker.

Just need Prince Boetang to do one in the next couple of days too, I am surprised nobody snapped him up after the World Cup.

Portsmouth have really annoying fans especially the guy with the bells it completly recks the atmosphere of the game.... theyv'e only got one song ;)

his name is John Portsmouth fc Westwood, and his bell was banned from most premiership grounds. So we can stand by for some serious ringing ha-ha.

still after our 2nd it may go quiet

According to the pompey forums they'll be about 2,000 of them, so should make for a cracking atmosphere in both ends.

Although I can't see us losing.

Gonna go for 3-0 City, McSheffers to score anytime. 19,129 to attend.

Dilemma for Cotterill
Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill will be without two players for the season's opening game at Coventry.

Hayden Mullins and Stephen Jordan are likely to miss out through injury adding to the problems Cotterill faces in fielding an already depleted team.

Mullins has a problem with his knee and Jordan has a calf strain, but Jordan might not be able to play because he may not be registered in time.

Cotterill said,'Hayden has got tendonitis problems with his knee. He went to see a specialist but if he has that injected he will not be able to do anything for six days."

'At this moment in time we need him to keep playing through the discomfort of it because our squad is so short. It's a case of monitoring it and looking at the problem closer to the time.

'As for Stephen, he still has a little calf problem. Maybe we shouldn't have played him when we did in Canada, but we didn't have much of a choice with the squad as it is."

Jordan and Jamie Ashdown were allowed to join the troubled south coast club even though it is still under a transfer embargo, but they have not yet been given clearance by the FA to play league football.

The problems don't stop there for Pompey and Cotterill. Kanu, who is out of contract with Portsmouth and in dispute with the club over his contract extension, may not be eligible to play unless the two parties can come to an agreement and Kanu signs the new contract.

Hermann Hreidarsson and Danny Webber are both definitely out and will be for some time with long term injuries.

Also out of contention for the trip to Coventry are Tom Kilbey with a knee injury and Billy Goddard with a shin injury.

Seems like they're in deep trouble, no matter what happens today!

I'm not too sure about this, it's a very tricky first game back. I've had an unfortunately deep level of pessimism drilled in to me after years of misplaced optimism with coventry, i don't attempt to predict the results anymore for fear of becoming suicidal. But seeing as everyone on here is feeling a certain positive buzz around the club again, i'm going to join in and say we might possibly just about maybe win... heres hoping!

I can't see the game being played tbh, wich i'm devestated about i think Pompey will go into liquidation today and that will be that. :(

I hope not, 1) For the real fans of there club this must be gut wrenching and when ever people have a dig at sisu they only need to look at clubs in this state as it could quite easily have been us with no Coventry City F.C to support. 2) I can't actually wait another week for the season to start. :)

Every home game i have a fiver on the result, I get the score from my daughter and the first scorer from my son and they share the winnings
if we win but they never predict a defeat. They are both sky blue mad and i love them dearly.
V pompey looks like 2-1 with eastwood scoring first, this may change by 2:45 saturday:D

Hey guys, Pompey fan here if you don't mind...

Everyone's really looking forward to tomorrow, particularly after the verdict yesterday. We know some pretty shammy things have been happening at our club in the last few years. Not something we are particularly proud of and the court decision yesterday was no cause for celebration. It's still a weight off our back though and finally we can actually worry and talk about football, rather than that playing second fiddle to off-the-field dramatics.

To be honest, I for one am looking forward to this season more than any of the last few. Pretty much everyone is disenchanted with the Premier League, while some of the away trips this season will be a blast. i reckon we will have about 2500 up there tomorrow, and in reference to previous posts, if you know anything about Pompey fans, if we do go 2-0 down, we will make even more noise! I reckon it will be a good game. Yes we've lost a few players and our weakness will be our lack of strength in depth, but consider the fact that we have the likes of Mokoena (S Africa Captain) Marc Wilson (NI international) Kanu, Nugent, Tommy Smith, Utaka, Boateng (for now), Michael Brown, plus journeymen more than proven at champ level like Mullins and Richard Hughes and we're more than a match for anyone in this division. Just don't expect us to make any subs.

Anyway, a few questions tomorrow as first time to the new ground. Arriving by train can we walk it or do we need a bus? Are there any good/suitable pubs between the station and ground to refresh ourselves in?

Looking forward to a good game and 3 points :D

Alright there fella

To answer your questions i would say your best bet is to just jump in a taxi from the station to the ground as it's probably about a 45 minute to a hour walk the taxi will probably cost about £10, there is one pub as you come out of the train station called The Rocket it does get a bit hostile in there at times with away fans so if you have kids i would forget that one other wise wait till you get to the arena its self and go to the casino it may be expensive in there but rest assured there wont be any trouble and the staff are friendly and there is some good banter between the fans or you can try one of the numerous pubs and social clubs within walking distance of the ground along the Longford Rd many of these welcome away fans but if i was you i would keep the club colours under wraps just incase, hope that helped and good luck with whats going on at your club and for the rest of the season apart from when you play us!

Hi Mate,

Welcome to the site.

There is a pub called The Black Horse which is for away fans which you can a cab to for not much at all.

The Ricoh isn't walking distance from the station I am afraid so it will be a cab or a bus. I remember everybody slating Mokoena last season (even your fans) until he scored that header against us in the FA cup :(
