WITH a small squad ravaged by early-season injuries, David Bell knows that he is near-enough guaranteed a starting place for Coventry City these days.
But the Sky Blues winger insists that he would be only too delighted if manager Andy Thorn pulled him aside at training today and revealed that he’d been given the go-ahead to splash out on a couple of attacking midfielders.
“Competition is very important,” said Bell, who underlined his versatility by playing at the tip of Thorn’s midfield diamond against Leicester last Saturday before switching to his more familiar wide role in Tuesday’s ill-fated Carling Cup tie at Bury.
“We haven’t brought in any outfield players yet but that’s out of our hands.
"It’s up to the lads who are here to get on with to it but if I heard we were signing some new players in my position I’d honestly be over the moon.
“We need more bodies – everybody’s said it – and hopefully we can get more in.
