THE latest appeal to find out what happened to missing Coventry mum Nicola Payne has been met with an “unprecedented response” from the public. Police say a huge number of people took to social media to share information released on the 21st anniversary of Nicola’s dissapearance. They also received 25 calls and e-mails from the community which are being followed up. Det Insp Martin Slevin, senior investigating officer for the case said: “The response on the Coventry Police Facebook page was astounding, with 455 people sharing the post on their own profiles. “We hope the use of social media will encourage people to come forward with information or stories they may have heard about Nicola over the years. “Following the appeal to trace a vehicle and two men who were seen near to where Nicola went missing at the time of her disappearance, we are also following up a number of calls and emails from people. “The investigation into Nicola’s disappearance remains open and we will investigate any new information that comes to light- I would remind people that there is still a £10,000 reward for information leading to the discovery of Nicola’s whereabouts.” The new appeal asked the public to help identify two new suspects and a car seen near to where Nicola was last seen on December 14, 1991. In foggy conditions she left her boyfriend’s home in Winston Avenue, Henley Green at around 12.10pm to walk back to her parents house in nearby Woodway Close. It’s believed she would have walked across the Black Pad – an area of wasteland separating both streets. Anyone with information should contact police at Coventry on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
