Port Vale Forum Pre Match Interview / Report vrs Coventry (1 Viewer)

Hi,

You may know I'm the pre-match reporter for the Port Vale Fans Forum One Vale Fan.

Part of my role is to contact fans of our forthcoming opponents to ask them a few questions and gain their views on the upcoming fixture between our sides in order to produce a report which we release on the site a couple of days prior to the game. Some of you kindly contributed to our reverse fixture article and I wondered if some posters would like to take part by answering some different questions.

I wondered if up to three of you have a few minutes and would kindly offer your feelings on the game by answering the following few questions;

1. Tell us a bit about yourself & history as a fan?

2. How are your team doing (current form and in relation to the expectation of fans at the start of the season) and where do you think you will finish the season?

3. Who should we watch out for (one or more danger player/s)?

4. What are your thoughts on your manager?

5. Can you tell us up to 3 quirky things opposing fans might not know about your team?

6. Any views on the current Port Vale team & specific players?

7. Did you attend the reverse fixture earlier this season? If so what were your thoughts on the game?

8. Any views & memories of players / managers that have been involved with both teams and which Vale player past or present would you take for your team?

9. A score prediction (and potential scorers for both sides) and what do you expect the attendance to be?

10. Finally can you pass on any decent recommendations for local ‘away friendly pubs’, eateries and the best places to park for our fans travelling to the game?

Please also feel free to include any other information you feel worthy and I will knock it into a report as per the example below regarding contribution from Doncaster fans from a game with them;

Opposing views: Doncaster (H) – onevalefan.co.uk

To enable me to produce this in good time I need a reply by Saturday and the report should appear on the website a day or two before our fixture.

Please also let me know if you would like me to include your name on the article and if you are prepared to share one a photo of yourself we can utilise with the article.

Many thanks for your potential support in this matter.

Best Regards,

REP

Does Rob still run your site? Can't remember his surname but think he lived in London. Used to read that site when i lived just north of Kidsgrove as would go to the odd Vale game.

He does indeed, fine fella by the name of Rob Fielding and the website was started in honour of his dad. He lives near Aylesbury now. One vale Fan actually sponsored our game yesterday.

If I've done my maths right then this is the game relegation will be confirmed
(Depending on other results)
30 points still to play for. Port Vale is 3 games time. So that will be 9 points less if we lose all 3, leaving only 21 points to play for.

Any team 14 points clear would need to win all those 3 games leaving them 23 points clear.

Very unlikely, but could mathematically happen. Obviously any other team 15, 16, 17 or 18 points clear would also have to win games too of course to maintain that gap of over 21 points.

1)
Season ticket holder for around 10 seasons now, mainly since we moved to the Ricoh. Go to 4/5 away games in a typical season not as many this year due to finances.

2)
Terrible! At the start of the season with the squad we assembled compared to last year I wasn't expecting much before the first game I said we were in for a boring 16th placed season. However even that expectation was dreaming! We will finish 24th, even 22nd would be a great achievement for where we are now!

3)
Stuart Beavon is a hard worker up top never gives up but does lack a real goal threat. At the moment our biggest threat is young George Thomas really came on since start of the season, only player that looks like he cares and can be a threat on the break

4)
Fairly good appointment for L2 next season. Instant improvement first half on Saturday however second half was up there with some of the worst performances. Won't judge until January next season

5)
Erm ... we have sold 33k for Wembley before general sale! Fairly good achiement considering the position we are in

We are probably one of the most divided fans in the country regarding off field issues

6)
Really rate JJ (Hopper?) looks a very decent player, type of player id love to have for us, seem a hard working honest team bit surprised to see you down there, had you down as a mid table

7)
Didn't attend no, only been to vale away once which was last season

8)
The only connection I can think of is Chris birchall? As mentioned id take JJ from you in an instant!

9)
Hoping robins effect has taken hold by then and we get a win, reckon 2-1 win but at the minute that's crazy talk!

After I've bigged him up Hopper is bound to score, G. Thomas and Beavon for us

No idea how many you guys will bring but likely annoyed as 8,000 in reality 5,500

10)
Park at the Novotel in Bedworth 3rd exit as you come off m6, between £3-£4 to park, 10 min walk down to the ground and we got a free programme on Saturday.

In terms of drinking casino is best place really, they accept away fans, even milwall were in there chatting away to our fans. Bit expensive and takes a while to get served tho

Im sure if we looked at fixtures some of those teams would be playing each other as well so may be mathematically impossible for us to be relegated by then ... the dream is alive!
